About me

“If there are no ups and downs in your life it means you are dead.” ~Unknown

I won’t promise all your symptoms or problems will go away, from my experience as a clinician and as a person, it is not realistic. We tell ourselves “If I can just get to *blank* then I will be okay.” Once we finally reach there, we still have a challenge we are faced with.
What is the point then, if we are always going to have ups and downs? The point is to learn how to enjoy life even when faced with challenges. To take life in a direction that we want rather than controlled by our thoughts. Together we can help you move towards a better life.

I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I received my Masters in Social Worker from West Virginia University. I have assisted a variety of people of different age, color, religious belief, social status, and sexuality. Bottom line, we are all human and deserve to be treated as such. Together I have worked with them to overcome challenges of anxiety, depression, substance use, self-harm, personality disorders, and ADHD to name a few.

My counseling style focuses on being understanding of your experiences, who you are, and your goals. To be direct, open, and encouraging with you. I practice was is called Eclectic where I’m often gaining more knowledge about different techniques from multiple approaches to make a tailored approach suited to you. Some of the approaches I utilize are Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Person Centered, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). These focus on putting you in control of the destination.

It amazes me the ability for people to be able find courage to seek help. Final words I want to leave you with is that even if you don’t feel like you fit with me keep searching. Common factor theory provides evidence that the relationship between you and the therapist is one of the largest factors that determine success with outcomes. The largest portion though, is you.

Best Wishes and I look forward to helping you with your journey!

Thomas has been integral in the current outcome of some things I’m going through personally. He’s done an amazing job at posing important questions I’ve needed to ask myself for a long time. I appreciate his timely communication style and he’s attention to detail.
