Tiffany McCarthy

About Me

I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been practicing in community mental health as a case manager and clinician for almost 10 years, collectively. I have the most experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, general stress, and parenting problems, as well as experience with the LGBT population, treating ADHD, supporting with relationship challenges, and have worked with individuals of all age ranges, backgrounds and walks of life.

My work tends to be very strengths based and person-centered, meaning I prefer to identify and build on existing strengths to combat challenges rather than focus solely on problems. I also believe that you are a person first, and your symptoms and behaviors do not define you. You are the expert on yourself; I am here as an empathetic and non-judgmental sounding board and to support you with taking healthier, more positive action that will allow you to get where you want to be. I also tend to be integrative and action-focused; I like to take from a number of different styles of therapy to individualize treatment to the person, and I like to establish plans and provide homework to support with making change.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and I look forward to working together to ensure that you are getting the most out of our time together.

LCSW #85529 (Expires: 2022-08-31)

Written by M.I. on Jan 12, 2021 after counseling with Tiffany for 8 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, lgbt, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related issues, parenting issues, self esteem, anger management, career difficulties, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue

Even though I've only talked to Tiffany a few times, she always knows the right thing to say, and its always in ways I understand, if that makes sense. She gives me the clarity I need and I really appreciate that. I've seen other counselors in the past, and they just kind of dismissed me and I didn't feel comfortable. So I appreciate Tiffany because she didn't do any of those things.
