About Me

Hello, My name is Tim Heller. I am a Clinical Social Worker originally from Iowa’s Heartland. My education includes: Master of Social Work from the University of Kentucky Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology from St. Meinrad School of Theology and Bachelor of Social Work degree, University of Detroit I also obtained Family Therapy training through the Southern Ohio Family Therapy Institute.

I approach therapy as a collaborative art: we work together to balance what I believe is possible for you and what you are ready to address. I see my role as that of compassionate facilitator, helping you re-connect with your best self and work toward new realistic goals in your life. To do this I "Companion" with you through the journey and support you as you work toward your goals. I draw on the work Sue Johnson's Adult Attachment Theory among others.

During therapy, I build on your strengths so you will feel empowered to make desired changes. I use an eclectic therapeutic approach, “that is to say, one size does not fit all. The shoe that fits one person pinches another.” - Carl Jung. In this process, I draw on Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Systems Approach, Resolution Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Experimental Family Therapy, Exposure Response and Prevention Therapy ERP-T, and Mindfulness. My clinical interests include complex Relationship and Family concerns, Infidelity, Anxiety/ OCD, Anger Management, Porn Addiction, Depression, ADHD, Grief and Loss issues - death of a loved one, job loss, divorce, Chronic Illness/End of Life issues, Pet Loss.

My 28 years of hospice experience with the dying and listening to grieving loved ones provides a gentle, caring backdrop for his work. If you are dealing with loss of any kind, Grief, experiencing Depression or Anxiety/OCD, Marital / Relationship struggles, ADHD, Grief, continuing your journey with 12-Step recovery issues, I will walk with you on your journey.

I met with Tim twice and he helped me assign some answers to why I was feeling the grief that I was feeling. His background in hospice is clear in how gently he speaks. I found him to be very encouraging and helpful. He has a lot of help to offer anyone feeling stuck in the pit of grief.

Mr. Heller was a lot of help for me. I never felt like time was wasted during our sessions. He was able to guide the conversation exactly where it needed to go, give feedback and suggestions, and simply listen when i needed to vent. I will go back to him if i feel the need to return to therapy.

I have been seeing Tim for a couple of months now. Therapy with him has been life changing. I’m so thankful for my time with him. We have worked on my anxiety and I feel like I have moved forward leaps and bounds during this time. I would recommend him to anyone going through a hard time.

Timothy has been extremely helpful with my concerns. He's been a great deal of help and has allowed me to be open. He's also sent articles for me to review.
