About me

In addition to being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am also an Attorney with over 20 years experience in legal practice. My experience as a lawyer provides an additional dimension to my work as a therapist. I am comfortable working with intimate personal and relational dynamics to achieve resolution and change. The ability to focus on your strengths, and your concerns, is the key to promoting growth.

Seeking therapy is an important step on your journey to promoting healthy change and positive growth in your life. You are many things, and take on many roles in your life. I believe positive change does not occur from an outside source, but comes from your own strength and resilience, as well as a better understanding of who you are. My role is to guide and challenge you on your journey of reconnecting to your own potential and power so you can achieve change in yourself and your life.

Whatever the reason that brings you to therapy, including sensitive matters such as LGBTQ issues or romantic/sexual concerns, your session should be a place where you, and your loved ones, can address these topics in an honest, respectful and nurturing way, free from judgment or shame.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Tony Karajanis. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

When I first joined therapy I didn’t know what to expect. I had a lot on my plate I didn’t even know where to begin. Tony made it easy. He was extremely patient made me feel comfortable enough and guided me through my anxiety of everyday life and helped to put my issues into perspective. It sometimes hard to find that person that understands you and makes you feel like someone listening which gets you through the day. It it wasn’t for Tony I would still be in a fog. Thank you Tony !

B.K.C. --after three months of Parenting Therapy, focused on improving deep-listening skills: It works with the tools shared by Tony!
My college-age daughter requested that I join therapy: I have proven not to be an effective communicator, and at least as a mother of a young adult, I might lack the skills of a respectful listener. I chose to work with Tony because in addition to being a licensed psychologist he is also a lawyer, like me. It turned out to be a perfect match! Tony agreed to start therapy with a joint session with my daughter, a gesture I really appreciated. Three months later, I seem to be making real progress.
Working with Tony is as easy as talking with a concerned friend, and Tony carefully picks up on issues which need to be addressed. He always manages to present them to me with a new insight and creative solution(s) that might work with the challenge. The fact that Tony either has an amazing memory or keeps meticulous notes from our sessions, makes our session to session transitions run incredibly smoothly. I keep notes from our meetings as well… lots of valuable takeaways, always. Consummately professional, focused on what needs to be accomplished, knowledgeable, kind, funny, generous with his time, and intellectually engaging when needed; always present and ready with thoughtful responses to any questions… THANK YOU, Tony:)!

I’ve been working with Tony for about 6 months now. I have found him to be patient, kind and easy to talk to.
These past few months I had been through one of the hardest times of my life. My level of stress and anxiety had been at its highest compounded with relationship issues that when I when I met Tony I was struggling. He helped me navigate through my relationship, process the issues and come out stronger then when I met him. Every session we’d pick right up where we left off. He doesn’t miss a moment. I’d highly recommend working with him.

It’s not always easy finding someone that you connect with. I have enjoyed working with Tony over the last six months. He has a way of putting you at ease while addressing the issues straight on. He is patient and a good listener and always seems to find the right issues to delve into further. I now know more about myself than I ever have. We discuss things one week and we always pick right back up where we were without having to revisit the backstory on how we got there. Tony has given me good tools and suggestions on dealing with my issues. I feel that I am better equipped to handle life’s challenges in a more positive and supportive way. I would recommend Tony to anyone who needs help bettering themselves.

I came to Tony feeling broken, having just come out after decades closeted, and days after a bad breakup. In the year since, no matter what I come to session with, Tony has been an incredible resource. Sometimes that means helping me strategize ways to work through anxieties around family, dating, and work. Other times helping me unpack internalized homophobia, or suggesting resources to learn more about queer history and culture. Whatever the situation, I feel validated, supported, and not judged.
