About me

Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Tracy. I enjoy interacting with people. Therefore, helping others seems natural. I assist clients in navigating their world as it currently exists. I am a balanced mix of creating sessions to be goal and outcome oriented while also interweaving interpersonal and client-centered approaches. I believe these approaches help clients solve their problems and meet their goals.

I would be honored to have you entrust me with helping you move forward and helping you land where you want to be in life. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I have over 15 years of experience helping children, adolescents, adults with a wide range of concerns. Some of my focus areas in counseling include parenting, children, families, anxiety, depression, cognitive/behavioral approaches, as well as mindfulness. I consider my approach integrative grounded in the philosophical roots of client-centered therapy. I utilize a wide array of interventions. When appropriate, I use psychodynamic and cognitive/behavioral interventions. I also place an emphasis on insight, skill building, and interpersonal process.

If you believe I might be an excellent match for you, I encourage you to reach out so we can decide how to move forward. Lastly. as noted previously, Since 2012, I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. I also have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Counseling Psychology (2010); a Master of Art (M.A.) degree in Counseling (2005); a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies (2005); and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology (2000).

What you can expect from me interpersonally. My counseling approach is warm, relaxed and individualized to best meet your needs. I prefer an interactive style to build on your existing strengths. I like to use a variety of evidenced-based approaches, focusing on education to ensure you have the tools and skills needed to help yourself. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and solution-focused counseling, and positive psychology. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I am committed to approaching your presenting issue with dignity, respect, empathy, and without judgement.

As my client, you will be supported but also challenged in order to develop insight and self-awareness into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Therapy is not just about talking. It is also about learning positive strategies to help facilitate coping, enhance the ability to work through life’s struggles and challenges, and build resilience. Please be selective about the counselor/therapist you choose. It is an important choice and you need to feel comfortable with whomever you choose.

Reaching out for help takes a lot of courage and you have already taken such an important first step. I am here to support you toward change and a happier life. I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals!

Being a professional on this platform, it is my goal to contact you within at least 24 hours of receiving a message from you. Rest assured, I will always get back to you. In the meantime, I would like you to familiarize yourself with my schedule of availability. There, you can schedule a live chat session. If there is a day/time that is not available, please reach out to me directly through your chat room and I will see if I can accommodate your needs.

Dr Tracy Smith has been very knowledgeable and helpful. She is pleasant and attentive. She has been caring and has helped me learn more about myself, especially my strengths. I have grown and become a more independent person with her support. I am more satisfied with my life since starting counseling with her.

Dr Tracy Smith is very good if needing someone to vent and bounce ideas off of. Her usage of cognitive psychology challenges predisposed thoughts and ideas with goals/solutions to find what best works for you. Pretty cool therapist and adorable doggies.

Outstanding. Dr. Smith really takes the time to listen and genuinely cares about her patients. Every session brought me something new to think about. I'm not sure I could have navigated some recent life changes nearly as well without her support.
