Tricia Thornton

(MA, LPC, RPT)

About Me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 8 years of experience working with children, teens, adults and families. I was trained at a private liberal arts university and then at a graduate school from a biblical world view. I see each person as a whole, meaning, I like to address the emotional, social, physical and spiritual needs of each individual. I have worked with all ages in a variety of settings from private practice to schools to centers focusing on a wide range of issues from anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, conflict management, relationship issues, family dynamics, and parenting issues.

My counseling style is warm and inviting. I welcome the client with empathy and positive regard. My theoretical approach is more Rogerian, concentrating on the positive view of an issue, reality-based therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I will work with you on a needs basis, with you setting the tone of our sessions as more of a client-centered therapist.

Engaging with a counselor is the first step. We will walk this journey together at the speed you desire. Thank you for having the courage to start this process! I look forward to getting to you know you better.

Tricia uses a lot of visual cues to help visualize the issue at hand. It is extremely helpful for processing and handling the issue in an effective manner.

It is difficult to form into words how great and important Tricia's counseling has been for me. Tricia has done a tremendous job at listening. She also has a keen ability to step in and challenge me when needed. I am thankful.

It took me awhile to find the right fit. I don’t open up easily. Tricia makes it easy to trust the process.

Tricia has been my counselor for a couple of months. Before I started counseling with her, I was not my best self. I was struggling daily and really wasn’t sure that I will get better nor did I have any hope that I will feel like my normal self again. Since the first session, she made me feel like things are going to be ok. I was getting better after every weekly session we had. She is ver understand and has given me creative ways to deal with my anxiety and depression. I’m so thankful that she is as skilled as she is and for all the help she has provided me so far.
