About me

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” ~ Anaïs Nin

It takes incredible courage to move towards change. Welcome to your first step!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Minnesota with 7+ years of clinical experience diagnosing and treating mental health issues. I find that most people struggle due to individual or relationship challenges, therefore, I avoid diagnosing or labeling unless it seems necessary to treat the condition or is helpful to the individual. My experience includes helping people with depressed mood, anxious feelings, parenting difficulties, and relationship issues of all types-- such as with significant others, friendships, family of origin, and workplace dynamics.

We all possess power to create the change in our lives that is necessary to achieve greater happiness and fulfillment. This often requires self-examination and willingness to stretch beyond our comfort zone by being more flexible. Having the support and guidance of a trusted confidante can help you identify your personal strengths, challenges, and find ways to adapt and/or overcome obstacles.

In addition to individual challenges, people can feel depressed, anxious, lonely, unhappy, discontent, lost, or dissatisfied when their relationships are not working well. We are relational beings and tend to thrive when well connected with the significant people in our world. I believe many relationships are capable of sustaining challenges by strengthening and deepening the connection. If you are experiencing relationship difficulties, I hope to help you explore whether the relationship is viable through a pro-relationship stance.

I look forward to helping you navigate your journey!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Trisha Hartmann. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

So far, so good! I was actually pleasently surprised that Betterhelp was able to place me with someone who lives/works overseas as I do. Living in a foreign country creates a whole set of challenges, that other people might not be able to relate with.

We've only had a few emails so far, but each time Trisha's responses are incredibly detailed with useful advice, varying from the small every day changes to the bigger more general changes I can make.
I would like to continue working with her for a while longer, but I am already more aware of my thought processes and my reasoning behind my reactions to a lot of things.
She is very warm, non-judgemental and asks thought-provoking questions that allow a suitable amount of self-reflection.
I particularly like the flexibility of this system - paying a flat rate for as much or little contact as you need. Sometimes it's twice a week, sometimes it's once a fortnight or longer. The fact that you have to physically write down/read the whole session again helps the self-relection process of this kind of therapy. Not in the sense that I edit or change what I've written, it's still very much a 'stream of consciousness' style of communicating which I thought I may find strange as neither client nor therapist can read off body language etc, but it is working surprisingly well.
Highly recommended!

Trisha is great at providing useful feedback and advice. In the short time I have talked with her back and forth, I have already seen my motivation and mood change for the better! She has some very helpful insight and is also very easy to talk with about sensitive subjects.
