About Me

I am a licensed professional counselor in Tennessee, trained at the University of Florida in the areas of mental health and marriage and family counseling. I have been working as a counselor for almost ten years and have a wide range of experiences as a counselor. I have helped clients in the areas of depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting issues, marriage counseling, and trauma. My approach is to help clients understand themselves, uncover long held beliefs that may be holding them back, and helping them decide what the next chapter should be. I believe in empowering clients with information and guiding them towards their dreams and goals. My theoretical approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative, Humanistic, Insight oriented and Solution Focused.

I believe that most people strive to do something meaningful in their life, and that takes on many dimensions with family, relationships, career, and personal interests. We are all so busy trying to keep up with the life we have created that things get off track sometimes. I believe that every person knows what they need and want, they just need help finding or rediscovering it sometimes. And, sometimes, life just keeps giving us lemons. I am here to help get your life back on the path you have chosen, or help you find the path you desire.

I've only been working with her for about a month and I feel calmer and I love that she actually gives you tips and tools to use in your everyday life. She has a great down to earth personality and strives to help you in anyway she can.

Very knowledgeable and understanding. Most importantly, working with her has improved my quality of life. She has given me the tools to succeed in my treatment that will last even after my time in counseling is over.

My husband and I are very appreciative of Valorie's help and guidance in helping us work through some marital issues. After a few months of working weekly with her, we feel better equipped to weather our storms.
