Vee Martinez

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both NYC and Florida. I am a NYC native who exchanged the beautiful skyline for a magnificent beach view. I have 8 years of experience and have ample exposure working with diverse populations. Because I have been working with diverse populations in many different neighborhoods in NYC, I feel that I am culturally competent and bring acceptance and openness to treatment. I also feel that I have been able to work with a wide array of clients and presenting issues and diagnoses, this including members in the military or dependents of active duty members.

I specialize in working with individuals struggling with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, depression, anger, self-harming behaviors, addictions and Trauma/PTSD. I most often rely upon Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness to assist my clients in making progress toward their goal(s).

With a great ability to build rapport and maintain regular interaction, I strongly believe that each of my clients make forward movement in the counseling process. I am aware that many clients are looking for ways to resolve or make improvements with some of the symptoms they are going through at the time; and I am passionate about helping clients find those solutions.

Life can be so difficult sometimes, and often it helps to talk to someone other than a friend or family member to sort through predicaments. I can start with you right where you are and assist you in working through whatever problems you are currently facing, or with issues from the past that seem to continue to rattle your world.

My personal therapy/counseling style and approach is very conversational, empathic, non-judgmental, compassionate and individualized with a dash of humor when appropriate. I endeavor to establish a quick but strong rapport with each patient in order for trust and progress to be made. Realizing that you are open to the helping process is a huge step, so compliments to you. I look forward to working with you!

I love working with Vee, she's compassionate, attentive and funny. I've experienced a huge improvement using her recommended CBT techniques. I'm very grateful for Vee and, it has been a greatly positive experience and help for personal growth.

Vee is my outside comfort right now. I don't feel judged, I don't feel like I'm being lectured, or dissected but rather that a good friend is holding my hand through something I'm doing myself. I feel comfortable telling her things and it helps that she's got a kind voice!

Mrs. Vee Martinez has been an immeasurable asset to my improvement mentally and emotionally. She offers such a safe environment to challenge my thoughts and feelings that have been in place for what seems like an eternity. I had a different therapist that was comforting but I didn't feel remotely close to the amount of growth I've enjoyed under Mrs. Martinez in a fraction of the time. She inspires and motivates me to trust and invest in the process of improving my mental and emotional health, as well as urging me to take my own time to refine my coping skills to enjoy more proficiency in dealing with life's stressors.

She has me believing I can be the person I was prior to my depression and that I can embrace every new day as an adventure once again. That, I didn't think was really possible before my treatment began. I hoped, but now I can see it.

I thank Vee for her support. I liked her ability to listen to me and to understand my situation, as well as her empathy.
