I am a board-certified counselor and telemental health provider, and a licensed professional counselor in New Jersey and Virginia. I am also a counselor educator at an accredited counseling program in New Jersey. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Family Studies minor), a Master of Arts in Counseling (Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education & Supervision (with a focus on Addictions and Family Counseling). I have been working in the mental health field for about nine years.
My clinical experience has been enriching and rewardingly diverse as I have worked with clients across the lifespan with a wide variety of concerns. During my doctoral program, I was a director of an addictions counseling clinic and worked at a family counseling center. In addition, I have experience with intensive in-home counseling and international trauma counseling. My other clinical experiences include interning at a non-profit organization where I provided outpatient counseling services to primarily mandated clients and working as a therapeutic day treatment intern. Finally, I have worked as both an elementary and middle school counseling intern.
My counseling style is warm, empathic, genuine, non-judgmental, collaborative, and relational. My approach is culturally sensitive and grounded in humanistic theories (e.g., person-centered theory) and motivational interviewing. Also, I readily integrate psychodynamic theory (e.g., object-relations/attachment theory). Depending on your needs and preferences, I can tailor my methods and draw from narrative, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness-based counseling approaches. Whatever your goals for counseling may be, we will always collaboratively work together to achieve them.
It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help. If you are ready to take that step towards positive growth and change in your life, I am here to support you and be present with you on your journey. I look forward to working with you!

I love talking to Dr. Tuazon daily. It helps me so much.
Dr Tuazon has been amazing. This is my first time in counseling and he has not only quelled my fears about what it would entail but exceeded my expectations. I feel like he has helped me to open up while still respecting my boundaries of what I am comfortable with sharing.
Victor is wonderful. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Victor is an extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, and invested counselor. He is interested in building a relationship, setting reasonable goals, and checking in on progress to make me feel so supported. He is an active listener, and gives me agency in my growth through counseling. He shares resources freely, and makes me feel empowered to grow in every way I desire.
Great person to work with, easy to talk to and helped me help myself figure out what steps I needed to take to better take on situations.
