Hello and welcome!

My name is Victoria and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Virginia. I completed my clinical training and Master's degree at the University of Connecticut and received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech. I have 7 years of experience working in mental health settings, in addition to providing services through Better Help since October 2015. In these settings, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families.

My approach to therapy is warm and highly interactive. I believe in treating my clients with dignity, respect, and compassion. Our relationship will always be collaborative and I encourage feedback from my clients. My therapeutic approach would be considered eclectic, meaning that I combine interventions from various models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Structural Family Therapy, and systems theory, with a mindfulness influence. I will tailor treatment to meet your unique and individual needs that we will explore and agree upon together.

Victoria allowed me to feel heard and understood in ways I never thought possible. Her genuine kindness and empathy is profound. She was flexible to my needs, so our conversations both flowed naturally and were very effective in carrying out cognitive behavioural therapy (which helped me a lot!). Her perspective was extremely valuable to me as I gained insight to myself that I would never have seen alone. She taught me that I am capable, and that I can have what I want out of life without stressing so much. I feel very empowered, after just a short period of therapy with her. Thanks Victoria!

I cannot express enough how wonderful it was speaking with Victoria and how much of a positive effect she had on my marriage. My husband and I were having a difficult time connecting and communicating and she somehow helped turn it around and brought us even closer than we were before any problems arose. Speaking with her online helped tremendously with having tight schedules and two small children and was extremely understanding anytime we had a last minute cancellation or change. I cannot recommend her enough. 10/10

Victoria is kind, helpful, and a great listener! I have never done therapy before and was slightly apprehensive. However, she made it a fantastic experience. Not only did she make sure I was comfortable in talking to her, but she helped give me all the resources I needed to understand our plan and make sure that we were able to attain my end goal. She has helped me to overcome my social anxiety and set me up for success in dealing with it in the future.

I’m thrilled to be working with Ms. McKenna! Throughout my sessions with her, Victoria has consistently demonstrated a professional, warm, and empathetic demeanor. Victoria is highly organized and keeps me on track during our sessions, which helps us make the most of our time. Victoria is very responsive to my emails and maintains contact with me between sessions, which helps me remain connected to the therapeutic process. Victoria provides thought-provoking activities to help me process prior sessions and prepare for future sessions. When I need a boost, Victoria is my cheerleader, and when I need to be held accountable, Victoria is my support. She somehow manages to balance my need for empathy and validation with my need for reality-testing and reframing. Victoria is an amazing person and counsellor. You're lucky if you get matched to her! She really takes the time understand your perspective and gives you new tools and ways to heal and also handle the hard process of overcoming your challenges. Highly recommend!

Victoria was tremendously helpful to me over the past month. She listened very intently to my issues that were troubling me and provided guidance and reference materials that were very beneficial. She was very supportive in her approach and I always came away from each session feeling very positive. I would highly recommend her.

Within a short span of a couple of months of work with Victoria, I feel much better and more confident! She was great in helping me figure out what was going in my head. I was confused and needed some help with relationship issues. Victoria was very caring and helped me be more calm and confident in relationships -- she gave me some helpful thinking/reflection based exercises that were very helpful for me to address my challenges. I always ended our sessions feeling happy and in control of my life. I would 105% recommend her to my friends and my future self :) Good luck Victoria, and thank you for all your help!! Victoria is very warm, non-judgemental and supportive. In the few sessions we had together, she showed understanding for my difficult situation, helped me to shift my focus to what is more important and gave me the strength to make some practical changes, which helped make me feel better. I recommend her without hesitation.

Victoria offers a space where you can safely express your feelings without punitive judgement. Her grammar is amazing, LOL! And her posts make me feel better. She asks questions that make you reflect on your thoughts. I've benefited from her counsel and would recommend her to my friends.

So far my experience with Victoria has been really wonderful. Her responses are warm, supportive and very understanding while providing really good insight, thought provoking questions and things to consider and apply. We are still early on in working together but I feel like she is going to have so much to offer in a lot of different areas and can really understand what will help you best.
