About Me

Thank you for taking the time to read about me. I know how difficult it is to take that first step of deciding to get help for problems that seem to be overwhelming. I am a psychotherapist who has experience working with people who have experienced serious trauma and have had their lives disrupted by long term symptoms of nightmares and flashbacks. I have advanced training in EMDR ( eye movement desensitization reprocessing) and have been successful in helping people to regain control of their lives. Additionally, have experience working with people who experience panic attacks, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues . My history includes having worked as a psychotherapist for a community based agency as well as a member of a private practice.
I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship between counselor and client is the strongest indicator of success. I will work with you to create short term and long term goals and assist you in reaching those goals. I believe that the counselor/ client relationship is a collaborative journey and I will be with you every step of the way. My treatment approach acknowledges the strengths that you have ( and may not be aware of) and to encourage and empower you to make the changes in your life that you need to make in order to enjoy a happy and healthy life.
I believe that people are resilient and have the ability to effect positive change when they are supported, encouraged and guided . My goal is to assist you to gain the insight you need in order to make those changes you want to make. I utilize mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and a humanistic approach. Our goal will be to help you to minimize anxiety and fear in order to energize your motivation for change. Basically we will be able to assess your personal situation, mutually set goals and define what needs to be done to reach those goals. The result should be a more balanced and fulfilling life.

For the last year and a half I have been struggling so bad and stuck in a horrible place due to a traumatic incident. I have tried to find "help" and have seen multiple medical professionals of all kinds without finding answers, someone who actually cares and understands me and my situation and the tools to get back to where I was before the incident. I can't even explain what Virginia has does for me. Within 15 minutes of our first session she gave me all the answers I was searching for in order to pull myself out of the dark place I was stuck. She listens, she gives advice, she's kind and compassionate, she's absolutely amazing. I now KNOW I will recover with her help and I can't even put into words how grateful I am for finding her!

Virginia Truglio is an excellent counselor and very well qualified for helping me with my issues. Right from the start of talking to Ginni we've had a connection that makes it easy for me to open up to her. I never had that before with any previous counselors. She's only been treating me for a few weeks now but is very educated on my issues. By thoroughly explaining to me whats happening and able to answer any questions I have its helping me with my healing process. She's being there for me every step of the way. Ginni also promptly replies to my messages and provides me coping skills during my week points. I can't thank her enough for all she's doing for me.

Ginni and I have been talking for a few months now. Right from the beginning Ginni was warm, kind and caring. She honestly cares. She has validated my thoughts and feelings, and helped me get through so much. She believes in me. I feel understood. I just cannot say enough. Incredibly grateful for her!

Great counselor, not sure if it helped to just tell someone or if it was telling her and her support what helped me but it worked, so I am not complaining. So overall supportive and understanding counselor.

Virginia (Ginni) has been extremely helpful in the short time we’ve been working together. I feel safe, heard, and valued. She’s allowed me to connect some of the dots between my personal, professional, and familial experiences, and has helped me start to understand some of the roots of my anxiety and issues with confidence. She has given me great resources on changing some of my negative thought patterns, as well as different techniques to try to calm my anxiety. I already feel better after having talked to her for a couple of weeks now, and am eager to continue this process.
