Thank you for taking the time to read about me. I know how difficult it is to take that first step of deciding to get some help for problems that seem to be overwhelming. I am a psychotherapist who has experience working with people who have been through serious trauma and have had their lives disrupted by long term symptoms of nightmares and flashbacks. I have advanced training in EMDR ( eye movement desensitization reprocessing) and have had success in helping people to regain control of their lives. I also have experience working with people who experience panic attacks, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues . I have worked as a psychotherapist for a community based agency as well as a member of a private practice.
I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship between counselor and client is the strongest indicator of success. I will work with you to create short term and long term goals and assist you in reaching those goals. I believe that the counselor/ client relationship is a collaborative journey and I will be with you every step of the way. My treatment approach is one of acknowledging the strengths that you have ( and may not be aware of) and to encourage and empower you to make those changes in your life that you want to make in order to live a happy and healthy life.
I believe that people are resilient and have the ability to effect positive change when they are supported, encouraged and guided . My goal is to assist you to gain the insight you need in order to make those changes you want to make. I utilize mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, and a humanistic approach. Our goal will be to help you to minimize anxiety and fear in order to energize your motivation for change. Basically we will be able to assess your personal situation, mutually set goals and define what needs to be done to reach those goals. The result should be a more balanced and fulfilling life.
