My name is Walter Bowers and I am a licensed professional counselor or LPC for short. I have been licensed for more than 20 years and have more than 25 years of counseling experience. I have helped many clients make positive choices regarding problems that they have presented in counseling sessions with me. The approach that I use is rational choice and is based on Robert Glasser's Choice Theory. I teach clients how to apply the theory to their own lives which allows them to realize that the only things that they can control are their own behaviors. This is important to know because many times people who have come to see me were too focused on trying to change other people or too worried about events from the past. They were unable to function in the present because of being stuck on yesterday. I use a reality based approach in counseling sessions that provide a foundation where you learn that the only behaviors that you will be able to control are your own. You learn to make choices that are beneficial to you as an individual. Things in the past have happened and must not control you in these present times.
I do know that clients can be a bit nervous when starting out with a new counselor, and clients might wonder if talking to me is worth their time and investment. Let me assure you that I am very aware of the seriousness of clients' concerns, and I am dedicated to committing myself to working with you to address workable solutions that will be a good fit for you. I am concerned about helping you to make better choices for yourself. If you will commit to talking to me, and listening as we work on the goals established in the sessions, I will be able to help you. We will begin by establishing some communication approaches that will help to break the ice. Afterwards, we will work together to help you be that great decision-maker who governs his or her own life. I am excited about the opportunity to lend an ear, a helping hand, and voice.

I love his calm voice and how unbiased he is in our sessions
When I read his theory of choice he would be using for counseling I knew that he would be direct and helpful in aiding me to confront my issues. It was only my first session but I do really feel he is listening to me and respects what I’m saying as well as my feelings while still being able to help me deal with my issues appropriately. I look forward to more sessions.
Walter Bowers is a very kind and understanding individual. I had an easy time connecting with him about my problems and he made really good points about my thoughts that I reevaluated to fix my own problems. I highly recommend him!
Walter is an exceptional therapist and asset to each of the people who are lucky enough to receive his time.
Personally, I've only had two other professionals over the years that could truly hear, listen, see, and feel: what they need to, what you are saying, and what you aren't ...to help offer what we can and need to hear, listen, see, and feel. I believe the most important thing in our lives is often to find balance, acceptance, understanding, empathy and compassion (for ourselves too) --and Walter is the kind of guy that I believe can help a lot of people find that balance where it is and better balance where it isn't. That's valuable.
What most stood out was even during the very first session it is so uncommon that a therapist can listen to my rambling unfocused self assessment of confused needs, priorities, and problems-- and truly help even during one hour (let alone the first!).
He can be his patient's 'perfect therapists for right now' and help you help you in this moment now that we live in. I've never experienced a professional with better insight, advice, and a real interpersonal rapport in the first hour that elude most therapists and requires countless sessions an unknown amount of time prior for the lucky few.
I'm beyond happy with Better Help's therapist suggestion and have a renewed vigor I've been missing when I have only sporadically sought therapy over previous years and continually missed that 'right therapist for right now' aspect with local therapists prior to Covid.
I have only had one phone session with him. It was the best first talk with someone about my issues in a lot time. I not fully sure how I feel about it. I have not known him long enough to feel how we will work. But so far, I have hope. I felt better about talking with him. I feel like he heard me. I think he can help me. We just getting started. So I hope for the future with his help.
Walter has been great at communicating and keeping in touch.
Mr. Walter is my very first counselor. All the male "role models" in my life have treated me like dirt, then I met Mr. Walter who come along and listened to my problems and opened my eyes and refused to give up on me when I pushed him away. He stayed and is helping me figure out who I am and what I want In life. Thank you Mr. Walter for everything you have done and are continuing to do, it is very much appreciated.
I am slow to progress and implementing new things or habits but Mr. Bowers reaches out to me despite my silence.
Me Bowers is very knowledgeable, attentive and practical in approach.
Going into things, I was a little unsure of the value I’d receive from online counseling. I could not be more pleased. The BetterHelp format has been great, and Walter in particular has been fantastic. He is responsive, attentive, and focused on helping me improve things for myself. He is always there to help me gain better perspective or insight into my thoughts, and circumstances.
I’m so grateful that I’ve found him through Better Help. I’d recommend him to pretty much anyone.
Walter is excellent. After thoroughly listening he always provides thoughtful insight and helpful solutions.
