Walter Laux, LPC
About me
At times, life can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to bear the burden alone. I have 24 years in the behavioral health field as an executive, teacher, consultant and dually-licensed clinician helping people move beyond their burdens to get on with their lives. I have been providing clinical services since 2005, and I'm a member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science along with the American Counseling Association. My experience includes treating depression, anxiety, panic, stress, anger, trauma, grief and problematic substance use across the lifespan.
My primary therapeutic orientation is a mindfulness-based treatment known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Instead of trying to control or get rid of unwanted experiences, this approach develops the flexibility to respond differently so that you get unstuck from what is holding you back. It is an inherently person-centered, strength-based modality.
Sometimes our struggles seem like we are in a tug-of-war with our own feelings, thoughts, pain, suffering, past and worries. At times, it may even feel like it's too much because you still haven't won that war, no matter what you've tried. Together, we can learn how to drop the rope so that you can get on with what is truly important - your life!
