About me

Greetings,
My name is Wendy, and I am a clinical social worker in the state of Michigan. For the past 20 years I have had the pleasure of helping individuals with neurocognitive disorders. Consequently, coping and managing the ill effects associated with emotional, cognitive, and physical impairments are challenging to the individual as well as their families. My expertise is in assisting clients adjust and navigate the dynamics of the family and the maze of medical decisions. Social and family issues can contribute to stress and anxiety which can be exhausting. Counseling with Interventions aimed to increase self-awareness and self-understanding (Emotional Intelligence) with Positive Psychology will minimize negativity in one’s thinking and behavior, to develop a more optimistic attitude that will enhance, rather than disrupt one’s life. As a positive therapist and counselor, the use a variety of exercises and interventions has helped my clients identify their own positive traits and strengths to function in a healthy productive matter. As life altering events and everyday stressors affect us all, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy and techniques have found to be useful and practical.
Additionally, my training as an interest-based mediator, is congruent with my motivational, and client-centered approach to living and healing. The goals of my practice include increasing self-awareness, improving the client’s ability to use self-direction to make desired changes, increasing clarity, improving self-esteem, and boosting the client’s self-reliance. Therefore, understanding how each member of a family is unique, helps to renegotiate, and maneuver life’s challenges. Likewise, it is important to understand that events in life occur with or without warning but understanding the importance of resilience improves one’s ability to thrive. I am looking forward to working with you.
