About Me

Greetings,
My name is Wendy, and I am a clinical social worker in the state of Michigan. For the past 20 years I have had the pleasure of helping individuals with neurocognitive disorders. Consequently, coping and managing the ill effects associated with emotional, cognitive, and physical impairments are challenging to the individual as well as their families. My expertise is in assisting clients adjust and navigate the dynamics of the family and the maze of medical decisions. Social and family issues can contribute to stress and anxiety which can be exhausting. Counseling with Interventions aimed to increase self-awareness and self-understanding (Emotional Intelligence) with Positive Psychology will minimize negativity in one’s thinking and behavior, to develop a more optimistic attitude that will enhance, rather than disrupt one’s life. As a positive therapist and counselor, the use a variety of exercises and interventions has helped my clients identify their own positive traits and strengths to function in a healthy productive matter. As life altering events and everyday stressors affect us all, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy and techniques have found to be useful and practical.
Additionally, my training as an interest-based mediator, is congruent with my motivational, and client-centered approach to living and healing. The goals of my practice include increasing self-awareness, improving the client’s ability to use self-direction to make desired changes, increasing clarity, improving self-esteem, and boosting the client’s self-reliance. Therefore, understanding how each member of a family is unique, helps to renegotiate, and maneuver life’s challenges. Likewise, it is important to understand that events in life occur with or without warning but understanding the importance of resilience improves one’s ability to thrive. I am looking forward to working with you.

Wendy is probably the best therapist I've had. She is attentive and remembers important details while offering guidance that is positive but not forceful. She is understanding of the non linear process of healing and helps make connections between issues in a way that is reassuring and builds confidence. I've appreciated our sessions and the tools I've built with her that I can use outside of sessions. Thank you Wendy!

Wendy is a great counselor. My mental health improved so much during the time that we worked together. She helped me come up with helpful excercises to facilitate my growth each week, and she was easy to open up to. I'm so happy I got to work with her! Definitely recommend.

She’s amazing!!! She helped me through one of the harder times in my life and reminded me what I needed to do and how to get there. She always made me smile and checked up on me from time to time. So thankful I had her through enough sessions to not need sessions anymore!!! And if I need to come back she will be my first choice. Thank you for making a difference in my life.

Wendy understands me but also challenges me (in a good way). She gives me little "assignments" most weeks, which I really like because it forces me to work on the things we have talked about. Wendy is really good at her job!
