Thank you for taking some time to check me out. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Alabama with 15 years of experience in counseling. I am an older guy who grew up in a very dysfunctional military family and carried my resulting hurts and problems around for decades. For years I prayed and read the Bible to help with my problems and that helped a lot, but I found I still needed more. Finally, in my late 30’s and serving in the military, I decided to get some professional counseling and found that it was the missing part of my puzzle, which together with God’s help, enabled me to become more whole. Eventually, I chose to get out of the service and go back to college to become a counselor myself. There is nothing like going through a lot of problems yourself, to help you have empathy for others with difficulties.
You can’t arrive at a destination until you take that first step. Like me, you have decided to get whatever help you can get to improve your life. I am familiar with a variety of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and principles, and that is needed because there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to counseling. Working together, we can construct a plan to help get you going toward the goal of emotional and cognitive process healing. How far you go will depend on how hard you work at it. Frankly, getting that kind of healing isn’t an easy task; it takes hard work. But, if you are ready to work on it, I can give you the tools you need to get the job done and will be with you through it all.
If you are ready to get started, I would feel honored to be your partner in the healing process. I look forward to your first step.
