My name is Will. I've been practicing as a licensed clinical social worker for about 18 years. I received my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Pittsburgh, and did my clinical training in forensic settings, working with sexual offenders and other folks mandated to treatment by the court. For several years I practiced in prisons, helping inmates come to terms with what they did to lose their freedoms, and how they might find happiness through rehabilitation. In 2007, during the Iraq War surge, I went to work for the Army, treating Soldiers suffering from combat trauma and a range of other related challenges. And now, since 2012, I have practiced in the military corrections system helping former Service Member inmates -- many of whom made terrible mistakes, but are seeking real, meaningful change -- manage what contributed to their offending; but also their traumas, depression and anxiety, fear, and lack of purpose in their lives. My approach to counseling, which is based on the cognitive behavioral and existential models, is to help people find meaning in life's often overwhelming stress. Addictions, traumas, perceived failures, isolation: these experiences can lead to a sense of emptiness. But processing them with a therapist can be the first step toward finding the person who's been lost. I see all clients with unconditional positive regard, and focus on strengths, not weaknesses. Anyone can rediscover happiness, whatever his or her challenges, whatever life may bring. I look forward to working with you!

Mr. William helped me a lot. I’m so glad that I have met him and I could talk to him, even if it was from across the world. He is very kind and positive person and amazing therapist.
I love how he listens and offers mechanisms that I could use when feeling anxious or depressed, and that certain things are normal grieving processes especially after losing my brother recently. But I should not stay there I need to also try to take steps to move forward as it's what my brother wants.
Very insightful and a great listener!
William Gates is easy to talk to and offers easy to understand insights that are deeper than cookie cutter while still keeping you in the divers seat.
Gates makes every session extremely comfortable. In my head for the longest time I thought therapy was super formal, but he talks to me as if we are friends hanging out at a cafe. I definitely recommend Mr. Gates! Been happy since day one!
Will is a great counselor. He listens to me and offers suggestions that truly make sense to me and are specifically targeted to my needs. He's easy to talk with and genuinely one of the best counselors I've ever had.
My experience with William has been very helpful in the short time I've had the pleasure of speaking with him. I believe the initial questionnaire was very effective in finding the right fit.
Will is an insightful, warm and engaging professional who helped me from the first session. Highly recommended.
Will has been amazing. He really listens and understands me. Whenever I feel like I am rambling or my thoughts are scattered all over the place, Will is able to make sense of what I consider chaotic thinking.
He’s excellent with correspondence and letting me know if there may be any foreseeable future delays in his ability to reply. That is huge as a lack of communication and feeling ignored is a trigger for panic/anxiety attacks for me!
Will is down to earth, genuinely caring, and he pulls no punches but is always respectful.
Truly, the very best therapist I’ve ever had the good fortune to work with.
Mr. Gates is amazing. I love talking to him
