About me

Congratulations on making the first step towards a healthy well-being. It takes a lot of courage to seek for help and commit to life changing behaviors.  I am honored that you have chosen me to part of your journey.

To get you a bit acquainted with how I can be part of your wellness journey, I achieved my Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling in 1998 from Saint Thomas University in Miami Florida and earned my license to practice in 2001 as Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida.  I have 22 years of experience working with children, teens, young adults, and their families who have experienced traumatic events involving the child welfare system. In my work, I have experienced working with individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, attention-deficit, sexual & physical abuse, substance use/abuse, medical & physical disabilities, behavioral difficulties, academic performance, life transitions difficulties, PTSD and developmental delays.  I have many more experience to describe but let's focus on the primary and most common ones.

My therapeutic style is mainly focused on where you are in your treatment process. I will always meet you where you are. But to sum up my therapeutic style, I would described it as using some of the strategies of the Solution-Focused Brief Therapy model, reality therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  In my earlier career training, I was also trained, but not fully certified, as a play therapist.  Who say adults can't play any games? Research shows that individuals who take the time to play, increased their ability to heal their bodies and minds. So let's play.  Laugh a little and then diligently move towards accomplishing the personal and life goals you want to set for yourself.  I am here as your support and in times, your tour guide.

If you feel that I am a fit for the therapist you are looking for and ready to start the healthy mental health journey, schedule our first appointment. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yasmin is an excellent counselor. She listens attentively, summarizes our conversation after each session, and has helped me work through some of my deepest traumas that I had never shared with anyone. This was my first time doing anything like this and my life has been transformed through working with Yasmin. I highly recommend her.

I LOVE Yasmin! She has helped me through so much in just 7 months. She gave me useful everyday tools to handle my depression, taught me how to reframe my thought process, and has so much patience with me. First time in my life I have somewhere safe to be myself. I would highly recommend Yasmin if you want someone sincere and useful

Yasmin is one of the most incredible humans I have been so blessed to know. She has helped me find light in the darkest of places and brought solace to past traumas I didn’t even realize I carried. If you take her advice and have consistency, the baby steps will lead to an unimaginable outcome. I see life in such a different light. Thank you Yasmin for everything. If you ever get the chance, at least have one conversation with her, she is extraordinary and will open your mind and soul. Because of the journey she lead, I finally look forward to living my life.

Yasmin has definitely helped me bypass my own ego in regards to my problems so far. I feel like there’s more work to be done but she absolutely nailed what I needed to hear most. She immediately recognized where I was avoiding and encouraged me to face it head on and I would absolutely recommend her.
