Cheryl Nelson, LPC
About me
I am a board certified, Licensed Professional Counselor ((LPC), in the state of Pennsylvania.
My background is in Community Mental Health. I have worked with adults, adolescents and children for more than 10 years in school, home and outpatient settings, both in person and virtually. I have experience working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, loss, relationship issues and trauma.
My therapeutic approaches are primarily Client Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. As a Client Centered Therapist, I utilize active listening, compassion, empathy and non-judgement to meet my clients where they are, help them identify their challenges, and develop a plan to help them achieve their goals. Cognitive Behavioral Therapists help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, feeling and actions.
I generally check messages here a few times per day and respond as quickly as I can. My goal is to respond within 24 hours. I do appreciate your patience when it takes a bit longer at times as I may be tending to other clients, or professional or personal responsibilities.
I thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of helping you to achieve your goals.

My experience with my therapist has been truly impactful. From the very beginning, they created a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental environment where I felt comfortable speaking openly about personal challenges and growth. Their ability to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and provide meaningful insight has helped me see situations from new perspectives and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding.
What I appreciate most is their balance of professionalism and genuine care. They don’t just listen—they guide, challenge, and support you in ways that encourage real self-reflection and progress. Each session feels purposeful and constructive.
If you’re looking for a therapist who is patient, knowledgeable, and truly invested in your well-being and personal growth, I highly recommend them.

Ms.Cheryl is Professional and Kind. Knowledgeable of different techniques and ideas to help guide me with methods I can use to cope with my various concerns. She cares for my whole well being. It is why I was confident to come back to her when I needed to pick up help again for ongoing concerns and new life occurrences. I specifically wanted an older black woman for my therapist, and I am grateful and glad she is available.
