About me

About Me
My name is Aaron Thorpe, and I am a MBACP, MA qualified counsellor with over 20 years of experience in education, teaching, and leadership. The foundation of my career—and my therapeutic work—has always relational building from the belief that every individual life matters.

I strive to create a safe, supportive space where you feel genuinely valued, heard, and seen, without judgment. Together, we will build a relationship rooted in trust and understanding, helping you feel connected to yourself and others.

My Approach

In my therapeutic practice, I offer a compassionate, insightful, and deeply supportive approach designed to meet you exactly where you are on your journey. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, navigating relationship challenges, processing trauma, feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, or seeking direction and meaning, I work alongside you to help make sense of your experiences and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

My priority is to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where you feel understood, valued, and genuinely heard. Clients often tell me they appreciate how I help them feel comfortable enough to open up, even when they’ve found it difficult in the past.

I specialize in rapidly identifying core emotional issues and skillfully bringing unconscious patterns to conscious awareness. I use metaphors and clear, relatable explanations to help untangle complex emotions and experiences, so things begin to make more sense. My approach blends deep listening, thoughtful questioning, and a strong intuitive sense of what lies beneath the surface.

Sessions are always personalized. I take into account your personality, values, and the pace that feels right for you. We work toward emotional goals that are meaningful to you—whether that’s building healthier boundaries, understanding yourself more deeply, healing after heartbreak, or finding a sense of peace and direction.

My style integrates psychodynamic insights, philosophical reflection, practical tools, and, where relevant, spiritual or faith-based support. I often recommend resources—books, practices, or reflections—to support your growth between sessions and empower you to keep learning and evolving in everyday life.

Ultimately, my mission is to help you build the inner strength, clarity, and tools to create lasting, meaningful change. Whether you’re in crisis or simply seeking to grow, I’m here to support you each step of the way.

What to Expect
Therapy with me is about more than addressing symptoms—it’s about creating a radical shift in how you see yourself and your life. While the journey may not always be easy, the rewards are transformative. You’ll uncover a deeper sense of self-worth, strengthen your relationships, and design a life that feels more whole, balanced, and fulfilling.

Next Steps
If you’re ready to explore this journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Please feel free to email me to discuss availability or ask any questions.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Aaron Thorpe. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Dr Thorpe even after only 3 sessions helped me to understand myself better than anyone before. He directed me towards the right path and asked questions I didn’t even realise I needed answers to. He is a professional and compassionate therapist; our conversations always feel easy and I am comfortable to open up and trust him which was my main worry before I started this journey. I am very grateful that I receive the support I was desperately seeking!

Aaron has compassion, knowledge and was able to get me to see different perspectives in things I never even thought of. He definitely changed my perspective of what a therapist can do and he was so down to earth and a great listener. I definitely would recommend family and friends
