About me

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to review my profile! My name is Adriana and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of New Jersey. I have twenty years of experience in the field, starting right after I graduated from the University of Miami with my MS.Ed in Mental Health Counseling. I grew up in New Jersey, did my undergraduate studies at Albright College in Reading, PA, earning my BA in Psychology and Sociology. My experience began working with folks with severe and chronic mental health issues, and have been able to work with them, along with other populations since that time. Over the last almost seventeen years, I have been part of the senior management team of behavioral health agencies, one in Miami Beach and one which is a State wide one in New Jersey and I have had the privilege to work with many different people and specialties such as anxiety, compassion fatigue, esteem issues, life transitions, depression, suicide prevention, trauma, multicultural issues, severe and chronic mental health, co-occurring (behavioral health and addiction disorders), faith based, gender & sexuality identity and homeless.
I believe that the core of any effective therapy begins with a therapeutic alliance. Good relationships foster trust and openness, thus, while I may use different styles of therapy, there will always be some good, old fashioned person centered values in there. Styles that we may use include psychodynamics, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness. In reality, it will be a combination of what will work best for each individual. My main goal is to help you feel comfortable, explore some issues, process and work through them in the manner that is most suited for you.
I have been able to work with people from various ethnicities, races, education, religions and socioeconomic backgrounds. I have a Christian/Roman Catholic background and can incorporate that into our work together, if you so choose.

I look forward to possibly working together!

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Adriana Chizan. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Adriana is a very caring and thoughtful counselor. Even prior to having a 1:1 call, Adriana gave a lot attention and care through messages and supported me in difficult time of family loss. The live session also has been very comforting and Adriana made sure to create an environment where I felt easy to share my thoughts. Her faith also in the power of God has helped me to share my own spirutal beliefs. I would highly recommend Adriana as a councelor.

I have been working with Adriana for about six weeks. As a fellow therapist, it was extremely difficult to find a counselor whom I connected with. I have a huge trauma history, including trauma from several previous therapists. I was honest with Adriana from the beginning about my past history, and she was very empathetic and understanding. She reassured me from the beginning of our clinical relationship both verbally and through her actions.

I feel so much better after every session with Adriana. She says what I need to hear, when I need to hear it. She calls me out in a loving way when I need it, and she provides that extra support too. I absolutely love working with Adriana, and it is the highlight of my week that knowing after being responsible for so many of my clients’ mental health all week that I have a safe place of my own to feel free in a non-judge mental space.
