Aimee Cooke
About me
Hello, and a warm welcome to you.
Taking the first step to seeking support can be a challenging one, and I commend you for already getting this far.
I'm a registered Integrative Therapist which means that the way I offer counselling varies upon the individual and the support they require.
I practice in accordance with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society's ethical framework, which can be found here https://ncps.com/about-us/code-of-ethics
Many people come to counselling for answers, understanding of themselves. I believe you to already have your answers. My role as your counsellor is to provide a supportive and holding environment while you find them.
I work from a belief that building a strong, therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in counselling. I aim to do this by listening to you without judgment, responding to you with kindness, and supporting you at a pace that feels both safe and considerate to your needs. You are the expert of your own life, and I will be here to meet you where you are.
It is by developing a therapeutic relationship whereby you feel emotionally held, that hopefully, you can feel safe enough to share your experiences, thoughts and feelings. In turn, you will be giving yourself the opportunity to create self-awareness, which ultimately creates the space for therapeutic change and a more balanced life.
I look forward to getting to know you,
Aimee.

I’ve been having weekly sessions with Aimee for about a year now and honestly it’s changed my life! Aimee is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I’ve been in therapy for a number of years but at last I found that special something in Aimee to actually help and guide me through difficult times in my life and to celebrate the good times with me. Thanks so much :)

Aimee is compassionate, professional and is able to offer gentle feedback that really helps me consider my challenges from a wider perspective. I never feel judged, and I always feel supported, even when talking about things that I feel shame around. She is responsive and thoughtful in her communications between sessions which enables me to feel like I am moving forward in my understanding and behaviour changes outside of our video calls. I feel very privileged to have been matched with Aimee.
