I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), am licensed and currently live in the state of Colorado, although I also maintain my LCSW licensure in Texas. I studied at the University of Texas at Austin for both my undergraduate (BSW) and graduate degrees (MSSW) in Social Work. Since graduating with my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) in 2003, I have worked with couples, families, and children in a variety of settings, to include non-profit organizations, schools, hospitals, and for the military.
Most of my experience is in the field of trauma, helping families who have been exposed to violence – either abuse, domestic and sexual violence, exposure to some other type of disaster, as well as combat trauma. I am certified in three evidence based trauma therapies, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE).
I also have experience and a passion for working with couples, doing marriage and family therapy, and helping families resolve conflict, increase intimacy, and improve or sustain healthy relationships.
I believe one of the most important and key indicators of successful treatment is the therapeutic relationship, so it is important to me to build trust and ensure that working together is the right fit.

Aimee has been a wonderful resource for me. I have become far more encouraged in my ability to handle things, tackle things in my life as they arrive. She empowers me to be the best version of myself while reminding me its okay to not have it "all together". She is kind, she listens, and gives me active and productive things to work towards to improve my life and mental well being.

Aimee is a wonderful counselor with a lot of empathy and insight. I feel like she really listens and understands which sometimes is all we need and she always has great advice. She also proactively communicates rather than waiting for me to reach out probably knowing that when her patients are doing poorly, they won't have the energy to reach out. I highly recommend her.

From her first response, I knew she was a strong and tempered soul. I have weathered my storm, but it feels like mine is only a part of what she's seen and while I carry my story under my chin and on my shoulders, I already feel at ease sharing my troubles with this person.

I've had problems getting out of bed for almost 10 years. I'm doing CBT with Aimee Edwards-Hunter for just over two weeks. I've noticed my ingrained beliefs starting to change with the use of logic from Aimee. I think I'll be sleeping a normal eight hours every night soon enough If you want to do a CBT course, I recommend her.
