Alan McNeill
About me
I live in Glasgow and have been providing therapy for nearly 30 years in the NHS, in private practice and in other organisations such as LGBT Health, Gay men's Health, Hospice and Chai Cancer Care. I mostly support people who are struggling to cope with the impact of a difficult childhood. This may be due to family dysfunction, bereavement in childhood, parents with issues of addiction, domestic abuse, or generally growing up feeling different to those around them, eg as a result of being LGBTQI+, leaving the adult with issues of Anxiety, Depression, low self-esteem, social skills/confidence issues and/or problematic relationship patterns. I also provide therapy for those living with trauma, abuse, or coping with grief and loss. I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many resources that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. My job is to help you locate them - and develop them, as well as providing an approach which will help you to better contain the events of the past using a child/adult model and Mindfulness which may allow you to function more effectively in the present, without so much of the influence of the past. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
