About me
My name is Alejandra Mercado, I have a master’s degree in social work from the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley, with a specialized concentration in cultural competence, and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Supervisor designation in the state of Texas (Lic#63182). I have 9 years of professional experience providing psychological assessments and psychotherapy to Veterans, adults, children, adolescents and families. I provide services in Spanish and English, and work with a variety of cross-cultural issues, mental health diagnoses, severe emotional disturbances, trauma, psychosomatic illness, chronic illness, and more. I am highly trained in the utilization of multiple treatment approaches and specialize in Cognitive Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, trauma informed care, and crisis intervention.
I am a dynamic individual with a strong passion for promoting the application of effective and evidence-based approaches to care. Thus, working with me will involve making purposeful changes not only in yourself, but also in your environment to find meaning and purpose to life.
