About me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NY, and a LPC-MHSP in Tennessee. I graduated in May 2018 from William James College with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a concentration in Forensic and Correctional Counseling. I have worked in the areas of mental health and substance use for the past 6 years in a combination of community residential, outpatient, and inpatient settings in the community as well as in correctional settings. I have worked with clients who have a wide range of diagnoses including anxiety, depression, bipolar and other mood disorders, ADHD, PTSD, substance use disorders, and personality disorders. I have a lot of experience helping clients with transitions including starting sobriety, reentry from incarceration, relationship changes, loss and many various other major life changes that can lead to anxiety/depression. I would describe my approach as warm, empathetic, person centered, and solution focused. I will work with you to help you reach your goals and make positive changes in your life. I use an eclectic approach, pulling techniques from many theories including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I look forward to working with you!

Over the last year talking to Alexandra has helped me to make sense of some really big changes in my life. I feel like she has really listened to and understood my weekly thoughts (however incoherent) and is often able to recall comments I made months ago in order to help me make sense of my current head-space. While some weeks I just need someone to listen, I feel Alexandra has often been able to gently challenge me when I need it too. Signing up to BetterHelp seemed very scary at first but working with Alexandra has been reassuring and more than worthwhile

Alexandra was my first experience with any type of therapy service. She allowed me to be myself, open, and vulnerable at times without judgement. She worked with me in order to find what works best for me because for therapy the "one size does not fit all" mentally does not work. She is well versed in multiple areas that personally struggle in and was able to make an important positive impact on my mental health and well being. Strongly recommend.
