About me

Hi there, and thank you so much for visiting my profile. I truly hope that what I have to offer is what you're looking for, needing, and will make a positive impactful difference in your life.

As a NJ state Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Masters level graduate of Rutgers School of Social Work, I have the accreditation, education, skills and training that qualify me to provide competent clinical social work services to those in need and open to engaging in a therapeutic working relationship . I am currently President/Facilitator/Co-Founder of a non-profit organization that provides free grief support services to woman whose moms have died. And I'm also a former Social Worker and Bereavement Coordinator/Counselor of a hospice for 10 years. All of these things together have allowed me to gain vast practical and real life experience and knowledge with people I have provided support and counseling to, while they were going through some of the most difficult, painful, stressful, and meaningful times in their lives. All of which having had successful outcomes making positive differences in their lives. And lastly, as a person who has personally experienced in the past being at my lowest point, most overwhelming, and stressful times in my life; all due to several types and levels of losses, especially the loss of my mother when I was young, among many other life challenges; and also being afraid to reach out for and accept professional and other types of support, yet, somehow gaining insight and finding the courage to seek, receive, and engage in professional, community, and personal support systems, makes me even further qualified to be a capable, effective, empathetic mental and emotional health professional.

I specialize in grief of all kinds, transitions, and bereavement, as I'm a Grief Specialist. But I do in fact provide support and counseling to people experiencing all types of losses, changes, and transitions, not limited only to the death of a loved one or pet. For example, anyone going through or having gone through a divorce; loss of relationship or friendship; role changes; loss of health, career/job, residence, lifestyle, etc.

I have experience working with individual, couples, family, and group therapy with the following populations: adults, babies/children/adolescence/teens, elderly, lesbian/gay/bisexual, cultural diversity, interracial relationships, veterans, holocaust survivors/helpers/witnesses, terminally ill, and bereaved.

I meet each individual client where they are in their presenting issue, and use combinations of treatments tailored to be specifically appropriate in accordance with their own unique experiences, challenges, and stories. I use a plethora of treatment models, theories, techniques, and interventions. These include, but aren't necessarily limited to, loss, grief, bereavement and trauma focused therapy, cognitive and cognitive behavior therapy, strength based therapy, holistic and integrative therapy, humanistic therapies (client-centered, gestalt, and existential therapies), continuing bonds theory, and solution focused therapy.

Working together collaboratively with my client, it's my goal to develop a cohesive, comfortable, professional partnership. I treat each client the same by using and creating: respect; trust; honesty; empathy; compassion; kindness; being non-judgmental; use of communication style and language my client understands and responds to; and also providing and allowing my client a safe space to feel comfortable to express, share, and work through the things they need to. I'm very passionate about helping others, my clients, and all people in my life. I strive to make them feel supported; heard; cared for; better educated in understanding their challenges and experiences; empowered; equipped with tools to communicate, cope, and live life to the fullest; a sense of peace; and a sense of healing. I consider myself successful if I'm able to make even a bit of difference, if not life changing differences, in the lives of all of my clients, and everyone I come in contact with. I'm committed to the betterment, well-being, and doing what's in the best interest of my clients.
