About me

The best environment for facilitating personal growth is one where you are treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. We all need a place where we can really be ourselves without fear of judgment, where the skeletons in our closet can be gently brought out into the light, where we can learn the tools and skills we need to grow. I can offer you that space and would be honored to walk with you on your journey of transformation.

It takes more courage and strength to reach out for support and to make changes in your life than it does to allow fear to have its way, keeping you stuck in the same old patterns. So, I congratulate you taking this step! I will structure our time together/correspondence around your unique concerns and goals, in whatever areas of life they may be.

My experience as a psychotherapist includes successful work with many issues including: relationship, career, anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, addiction, family problems, communication, self-esteem, emotional and physical intimacy. I have also done specialized work with: survivors of sexual assault/abuse, LGBTQ individuals, individuals living with HIV, and ADHD. My clients come from all age groups and diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. In addition, I facilitate a variety of therapeutic support and personal growth groups.

I completed my Master's in Clinical Psychology at the Southern California branch of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, specializing in Somatic Psychology (a holistic, humanistic, and experiential approach to therapy that emphasizes mindfulness). I also hold a Master's degree in Literature and teach yoga.

As you embark on this journey of growth, keep in mind that the longest and possibly most profound relationship you will have in this life is the one that you have with Self. The way that you relate to Self reflects the way that you relate to the world in general: to other people, family, significant others, intimacy, career, and/or finances. Part of my role as your counselor is to facilitate the deepening of this relationship to self with compassion and curiosity. Changes you make in how you relate to yourself can ripple out into all areas of your life, like the way that a stone dropped into a pond changes the entire surface of the water.

Alissa has been patient and insightful. I've enjoyed the use of this platform immensely and think it will continue to be incredibly helpful as I heal through traumatic events and issues in my life.

Alissa was very helpful to me in dealing with my issues with ADHD and loving an emotionally unavailable man. She helped me with solutions for those issues and ways for me to remind myself of what I want in a healthy romantic relationship. I appreciated her understanding and insight.
