About me

Hi! I'm Ali Patsos. I am a licensed clinical social worker in New York and Colorado. I have extensive experience working with people who are struggling with an addiction and all of the subsequent issues that arise as a result of addiction. I am well educated in addiction treatment and don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach to getting well. I have also spent many years doing intense family therapy. I've done a lot of work with couples and families helping them to get along better, effectively communicate and improve their relationships. I've also done a lot of work helping parents target and address problem areas with their children to empower them to manage their child's high risk behaviors. I find teens to be fascinating, fun and interesting and I love the challenge of building a relationship with them and helping them feel safe enough to open up. I also love working with people who are struggling to find motivation and to find their place in life. It is a great honor to help someone find purpose. Helping improve family functioning is incredibly rewarding as well. I truly enjoy working with all types of people and learning each particular person and situation to see what will be the best course of treatment for them.

My approach is eclectic and client focused as I believe you are the expert on yourself and have the potential to achieve your goals. I like to get to know people and let them drive their sessions but I'm not afraid to dig deeper and challenge the status quo. Most people find me easy to talk to. I tend to utilize motivational interviewing and have a coaching style. I utilize a lot of CBT and DBT techniques with my clients as I've found these modalities to be adaptable to the individual who uses them. I am very strengths focused.

I view anyone who is seeking help as brave and admirable and I take my role in helping people become their best selves very seriously.

Allison is great--she's helped me figure out how to approach a number of things in both my personal and work life. She is super practical, grounded, down to earth, funny, and relaxed. She helps me put things in perspective and go easier on myself. Thanks, Allison!

Allison is my favorite therapist that I’ve had so far: she’s insightful, kind, relatable, and easy to talk to. She helped me find my way into AA without pressuring or pushing me. By letting me do it at my own pace and supporting me the entire way, my comfort and trust in her have grown.

I feel very comfortable discussing what’s won in my life with Allison. There have been several times I’ve had very stressful things going on and speaking with or just texting with Allison has helped me work out the situation

I have only worked with Allison for a few weeks, but she's been insightful, supportive, and I feel our sessions are active and progress focused. I'm really looking forward to continuing to work with her!

Ali continues to be an amazing support system for me. She has helped me put my mental health first and learn how to focus on myself. Honestly, without her, I wouldn't be in the mental state I am in now: a good mental state. I still have work to do, but I am way better than what I was a year ago.
