Through the years she has been my one constant. I always feel safe to lean on her and be honest with the chaos that is my life.

I could write a novel on how amazing Amanda has been. She listens to every single word that I say. She doesn't skip over anything. She doesn't minimize any part of my healing journey. She takes the time to go over every detail until she knows I am ready to move to the next.
I am in my 40s and have never followed through with any help in processing my childhood trauma. It has ruled every aspect of my life until I was matched with her. We talk once a week on the phone, and more through messages if I need her. I don't open up very easily, so being able to start with messages and work my way to phone calls has been key for me. She has been very patient with me and trust me that isn't easy. I started out asking for bluntness and no sugarcoating, to be direct with me and call me out when I need it. Because I have held on to this so long, I knew I could stick my head in the sand if I needed to. So I needed her to call me out when I was about to slip back into silence. This has been a huge reason I have continued with her. She has the knowledge and tools to help me sort this out, but I also needed firmness. I don't do well when others try to appease me. So I appreciate her listening to the style of help I needed. I didn't know that was a thing until I started unpacking the hurt. I am very thankful for her and her willingness to help me in the ways I need it. I'd recommend her to anyone. She is the best.

Amanda Buchanan (I like to refer to her by her full name for fun) is truly amazing. I have been in therapy for a long time with different providers and I feel like I have made some new, interesting discoveries with her that have helped me. She's also fun to talk to, which helps.
