About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in rural Western North Carolina, with over 30 years of experience. I specialize in working with trauma and abuse, grief and depression, anxiety, and relationship struggles. While in private practice now, I have worked in mental health clinics, a family couseling clinic, hospice, and in an Army military setting with domestic violence.
Life can be so difficult sometimes, and often it helps to talk to someone other than a friend or family member to sort through problems. I can start with you right where you are and assist you in working through whatever problems you are currently facing, or with issues from the past that seem to continue to bother you in your life.
I think that you will find me to be warm, empathic, non-judgmental, and caring. I would like to help you on your journey to feeling better about or resolving whatever situation you are struggling with.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Margaret Burts. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Amanda is very patient and understanding. It has been a pleasure to work with her as I try and navigate my personal problems.
Amanda is very attentive and cares a lot about your needs.
Amanda not only listened to me attentively throughout our sessions but also provided me with other ways of thinking about the feelings or interactions I had experienced that week. She was extremely helpful in my battles with self-esteem and her willingness to keep all forms of communication open was very kind.
Amanda shows concern and respond immediately
Amanda has been wonderful. I look forward to our sessions and she has truly helped me.
Amanda was a great help to me, I'm glad I ended up with her as my counselor.
Ms Burts answers my questions in a timely manner. So far I feel confident she is able to help me get on the right road.
Amanda is truly amazing! I had never done any kind of counseling before her. Thank you Amanda for all your help! You have really made me see a difference in the two weeks we talked! I am grateful they paired me with you! I can't wait to get back online and talk to you some more!
Quick, thoughtful responses.
Amanda is a great therapist. She a true breath of fresh air and an incredibly empathetic person.
She's been very helpful so far. Amanda listens and offers advice to help you through your issues.
Amanda seems to be a sincere person who is genuinely concerned about the people she works with. Amanda was diligent about communicating with me through a week of a depressive episode. Since these episodes are triggered by any contact with my ex-husband, there was little she could do to address that problem but she was there offering concern and advice as I worked through the most difficult part.
Amanda listens and is able to provide guidance and appropriate suggestions with her expertise and education to help in even the most difficult to heart situations.
I am going through a very painful time in my life. I have tried other forms of counseling before, and they weren't productive. I feel like I am actually making progress with my talks with Amanda! She is helpful, and she is an excellent counselor. I appreciate her help!
She has helped me make hard decisions that my brain won't let go of, and helped me while having panic attacks and other situations of mine! Would recommend to anyone!
Amanda is very insightful and has helped with a problem that I have been struggling with for two years.
Amanda is very caring and understanding. She really hears what I'm saying and offers some helpful insight. She also responds quickly.
Amanda has been great to work with. She has a way of emphasizing and sharing similar experiences that makes me feel like it is okay to feel the way that I do and that I am not alone. She asks questions that make me think and reconsider what I'm looking for and expecting during this tough time. I look forward to working more with her - she has been a great help.
So far, my experience with Amanda has been great. It's early on, but she has been very quick to respond, and being able to write all of this out has been a helpful reflection period for me.
Amanda is a huge help. She is compassionate and empathetic, and has a gentle way of repeating your words back to you in a way that makes you realize what you're saying. I highly recommend her. The only reason I did not give her five stars is because I worked with her only for the one-week trial and we didn't really delve deeply into any single issue. I'm sure that if I needed her ongoing assistance, she would continue her excellent guidance.
Such a wonderful support person! She is really helping me through a particularly rough time in my life and I am grateful to have her just an email away!
Amanda has been really helpful and attentive to me throughout this whole experience. She is kind and supportive and has really helped me open up and talk about my life. I am grateful to her and trust her.
I have been very pleased with Amanda and her ability to interpret and understand the things that I have written to her about. Very understanding and helpful in her responses.
I feel Amanda Burts is a caring professional but is more than a character on my computer -- she seems to know how to reach me through my screen and be a real person, someone whom I can relate to. Although I have not been counseling with her very long, I feel our sessions have helped me keep going in my life here.
