About me

Congratulations on taking a brave first step!

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed in Kentucky, who first gained experience through community mental health and the public school system, then on to private practice. My approach to therapy is to treat the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. I tend to customize my approach to each client according to their needs, their personality, and their situation. With someone I may tend more toward cognitive-behavioral techniques, with someone else more solution-focused, or another person I may be more person-centered. Each person is unique and I attempt to find the right approach for each individual or couple. Sometimes, however, I get it wrong. I welcome feedback from my clients to tell me when I do get it wrong and how I might do better.

I believe the best gift I can lend to another person is to lend a empathetic shoulder to lean on with no judgement. My interest is in gaining understanding each person and their experience of their world. My clients tend to experience sessions with me to be like spending time with a sister, mother, or close friend. There is no subject that can cause me to respond negatively. Sexuality, kinks, and polyamory are some of my areas of expertise that aren't necessarily found in the mainstream, but are some of my favorite topics.

Together we can process what is creating problems in your life and I will walk with you through your journey to the other side. I am not the expert on you, but I can go through the healing process with you. Through that journey, I believe we will both be challenged to grow and change.

For many years, I had a very successful private practice where I saw an increasing number of my clients reach out to me during my off hours, primarily via text. Working with these clients in the moment of their distress rather than waiting for the next appointment in the office has proven to be very beneficial to the client's progress. That is why I am so excited to join BetterHelp. I believe technology is the way more people feel the most comfortable to be their truest, most vulnerable selves. Through the use of technology, you can have as much anonymity as you require to feel comfortable and clients can reveal more of themselves more quickly than traditional face-to-face sessions.

I hope to connect with you soon. Let us journey through life's challenges together.
