About me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California with over 5 years of counseling experience. I practice in the Greater Los Angeles area and have worked with a wide range of clients on concerns regarding depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions.

My therapeutic approach is a blend between Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Psychodynamic Therapy tends to focus on the client’s self-awareness and how a client’s understanding of their past behavior or experiences influences them in present time. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) tends to focus on changing patterns of thinking or behavior through practical evidenced based practices. In my practice as a professional counselor and having worked with adolescents (13-17) and transitional aged youth (18-24) for many years, I have found ways to utilize creative and expressive arts as an intervention to connect and assist clients in learning more about themselves.

My counseling style is warm and interactive. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I believe everyone has a story and every story is equally important and valuable.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!

Amanda has helped me manage my depression and ruminating/automatic thoughts. She is extremely insightful and caring, and knows what questions to ask in order to dig deeper. Since knowing her, I feel like I have a better grasp of how to ground myself. I'm so grateful to have met her :)

Amanda is awesome. She is friendly, welcoming, and offers so much encouragement. I feel like I can tell her anything without feeling judged. Our therapy sessions vary. Sometimes I just vent, and other times we do a little art therapy, and while other times she offers more feedback and suggestions and I do more listening. Regardless, it is a perfect match, and I couldn't be happier.

She was great helping me uncovering the underlying truth that I needed for some closure. She said when I was ready to discuss with another person how I felt that I would be able to move on and I believe I did under her guidance and that was a big breakthrough for me. It weighed on me for a long time and I feel better that I did what I needed to do.

Amanda makes me feel heard, seen, and understood. I look forward very much to the time I get to share my thoughts and feelings with her, and her valuable insight and alternate perspectives. It’s been wonderful working with her and I plan to continue with our sessions.
