About Me
I am an individual therapist licensed in Washington State with nearly ten years of experience in therapeutic interventions with clients, primarily adolescents and young adults, with many different concerns. These include depression, anxiety, LGBT-related issues, relationship issues, and stress-related, motivation, and self-esteem challenges. I have also worked with people with trauma, addictions, parenting issues, and grief and loss. I also carry the credential of Child Mental Health Therapist and am presently working toward a Perinatal Mental Health Specialist credential.
My style as a therapist is warm, genuine, honest, and casual, as well as interactive. I believe that you are the expert on your situation and come with the ability to overcome challenges, even if it may not feel that way right now. You are capable of making change, and I'm here to help. I believe everyone deserves to be heard with compassion and respect. My approach to therapy combines cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and solution-focused counseling. We will work together on your goals and needs and come up with a plan to get there.

As a first timer in therapy, i am glad i got Amanda. She listens to everything i have to say and in the few conversations ive had with her she has already helped me realize multiple things and making ne question myself (in a good way).
Amanda McLean has been very helpful with good advice for dealing with my problems. She listens very well, is very warm and kind, and makes me feel comfortable about opening up to her. She is very knowledgeable in her fields and has suggested lots of good reading material to help with my specific issues.
Amanda is thoughtful in her questions and statements. She connects with me often but in meaningful ways, not just generic comments. She is really helping me during this difficult time.
I love how Amanda asked me so much early on, what I wanted and what I was looking for? Things like does that resonate with you? How did that make you feel? What do you need in order xyz? She’s been funny and caring like a friend would be, and shares guidance with out being too prescriptive.
