About me

Hello! My name is Amberly Fix. Thank you for considering me as your therapist. It takes a great amount of courage and motivation to get this far in your journey. I am a licensed clinical social worker, licensed in the state of Virginia, and have been practicing for the last 7 years. I received my master’s in social work degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and my bachelor’s in social work degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

My expertise is working with clients who are experiencing communication issues, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, suicidality, social issues, isolation, abandonment, trauma, and self-harm. I also work with adults in parenting through communications issues at home, blended families, multi-household families, and single parent families. Additionally, I have worked in various other settings including in client’s homes, through telehealth, and in inpatient settings with clients who were diagnosed with severe mental disorders.

My counseling interventions are client-centered and strengths focused. The therapy models I use most are dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma focused – cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, and mindfulness therapy. I work to empower my clients to tailor a therapeutic approach that best works for them and their needs using empathy and compassion. I am always open to feedback and strive to create a non-judgmental space for you in therapy to be able to explore your concerns openly. I believe in collaborating with clients to discover their strengths and develop core inner resilience to help motivate them to reach their goals. I love working with clients to create their own life worth living. Seeing the success of my clients as they experience “ah ha!” moments and learn to advocate for themselves is what drives me in my practice.

Choosing therapy to help you reach your goals and explore aspects of your self is such an important step and I am looking forward to working with you!

Can’t wait to meet you,
Amberly Fix, LCSW

Amberly has about just saved my life. I couldn't have found a better therapist to help me. She understands my needs sometimes more than I do and she actually cares to help me see those goals through. She has taught me an incredible amount already in the time I've been talking to her and I'm sure I will continue to learn and grow with her help.
