About me

I am licensed in Virginia with extensive experience in providing therapy to help people maneuver through life challenges, such as difficult decisions, tension from work or relationship stress, sudden major life changes, issues related to mental health treatment and so on.... I find connecting with each person just where they are at the time allows the process to unfold. New perspectives will reveal opportunities to grow and manage the ups and downs encountered in everyday living. If you are reading this, perhaps you have thought about counseling before, or maybe put it off, wondering if therapy could help when going through a hard time. There is the stigma related to therapy and labels like "crazy" if our mental wellness is not in shape. This is an opportunity to get to know yourself on a new level, to explore things yet considered, acknowledge feelings that have been avoided, and in the process gain a new understanding and perspective about ourselves and paths in life. While time is hard to come by and there can be limitations due to technology, there are no limits to seeking solutions. This may result in learning new ways to manage stress, understand yourself better, recognize how your thinking affects your reactions and emotions. I am very approachable, understanding, and eager to connect with you to work out a plan that will lead to specific intent for change, growth and success. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, so congrats already! I am here to support you along the way wherever you are on this journey...

I’ve been seeing Amelia for a couple months now and I absolutely LOVE her. I was in a very dark mindset and she has done nothing but help pull me out of it.

She's extremely easy to talk to and very relatable I'm so glad I chose to keep going and change just counselors. I wouldn't have found her otherwise. I was minutes away from canceling my membership due to my previous counselor and I'm very glad that I didn't. I look forward to our sessions and I make double sure I do not miss them.

Amelia has been very helpful in my journey so far. I highly recommend her to someone who has relationship problems, addiction, problems, self-esteem, and or PTSD. She answers all my questions and helps me every time. I’m with her. She’s a great therapist.

I have really enjoyed working with Amelia. In just two sessions I was able to make a huge shift in thinking and feeling just through introduction to how neural pathways form, creating negative patterns that take you to sad, unhealthy places.
Reframing how I get to a place of forgiveness is helping, by putting me first in the equation. Its not about forgiving the other person who caused pain, forgiveness is a work in progress and about shedding old wounds so " I " live a happier life.
Anyway...She has given me fresh, new perspective that I am actively working on daily through journaling.
