Amy Owens, LMHC
About me
With extensive specialized training in marriage and family therapy, chemical dependency, and co-dependency, I have worked in the mental health field for 35 years. My credentials include a Masters Degree in counseling and licensure as a mental health counselor by the State of Indiana. My clients are typically people who are struggling with marital or dating relationships; divorce and recovery from it; grief, loss, anxiety, or depression. I prefer to work with clients who are educated, insightful, and highly motivated for positive change.
I enjoy working with couples because the benefits are quickly achieved and far-reaching. A couple who is motivated for positive change can achieve very positive results in just a few sessions. Then, we have a few follow-up sessions to confirm that their work is holding. When a couple improves their relationship, everyone in their family benefits.
My clients tell me that they see me as trustworthy, warm, and insightful. They value my experience and benefit from my use of metaphors and stories to illustrate complex dynamics and situations. They appreciate my acceptance of differences - age, gender, race, religion, culture.
