Amy Shapton, LCSW
About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California with 13 years of professional experience and a Master’s degree in Health and Military Social Work. For more than a decade, my work has been rooted in medical social work, with 11 years dedicated to supporting patients and families in an oncology setting. This background has shaped my deep understanding of resilience, adjustment, and the complexities of navigating life-altering experiences.
I am a certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and work with clients facing a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, lifestyle challenges, relationship and intimacy issues, and family or systemic conflict. I also support individuals coping with role transitions, identity shifts, and the emotional impact of major life changes.
My approach is grounded in a strengths-based perspective. I believe each person is the author of their own story, and that identifying and cultivating personal strengths can be a powerful tool in overcoming challenges. When appropriate, I help clients explore their experiences through a post‑traumatic growth lens—recognizing not only the pain of adversity but also the potential for meaning, insight, and transformation.
Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and balanced life is an act of courage. I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion, clarity, and evidence‑based support as you move toward the changes you want to create.
