About Me

Hello! I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with 19 years of experience counseling individual teens and adults. I have trained and practiced extensively as a cognitive-behavioral therapist, and I also have a passion for mindfulness-based approaches for greater well-being. As a recovering worrier and formerly fierce self-critic, I find great peace and joy in Eastern and Western spiritual wisdom. This has helped to free me from thoughts and behaviors that weighed me down for many years. I enjoy sharing these perspectives/practices with others.
In counseling, I encourage people to tune into/trust their intuition; practice more self-compassion; release themselves from the burden of certain beliefs; and find meaning and opportunity in challenging experiences. I offer a holistic, compassionate, and collaborative approach to counseling.
I have a passion and specialty in assisting people who are experiencing anxiety and those who wish to be more loving towards themselves.
I also enjoy helping individuals who are seeking deeper contentment or meaning in their lives - and those who are navigating life changes, such as serious illness, parenthood, and end-of-life for oneself or a loved one.
Most of my clinical experience has been counseling teens and adults in outpatient settings (group and private practice). I have also worked in intensive outpatient programs, providing cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness therapy to those experiencing depression and/or anxiety. In addition, I am trained in a dream interpretation model developed at the University of Maryland, for those interested in using their dreams to better understand and enhance their waking lives.
My other personal/professional interests include astrology, yoga, energy healing, singing, minimalism, travel, and walks in nature.
Thank you for viewing my site. It will be a joy to connect with and assist you!

In the short time I have worked with Amy, she has made me feel seen, heard, and honored. I could quickly tell how much she cares about her patients. I was hesitant to try therapy, but I feel grateful to have been paired with such a thoughtful, patient, and professional therapist.

Amy is an amazing support. I had to switch therapists because I moved to another state and I was very scared for not finding someone. Little did I know that I was going to cross paths with Amy. She is an excellent listener, very kind and caring. I feel she truly cares about what I share with her and she takes the time to check in with me. She shares different approaches to the same issues I face which helps me see the situation through many different lenses and thus I can reach to a solution easier. I totally recommend her!

Only a few sessions in with Amy but I’m so appreciative of her listening, understanding and how she presents solutions or ideas. Excited to keep meeting with her.
