About me

As a therapist, I believe counseling is a relationship that we journey through together. Therapy begins with understanding you and your concerns. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am excited to work with you on your journey to better mental health!

I'm Amy Urbanek and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas and have been in the mental health field since 2009 and licensed since 2011. My Masters Degree is in Counseling and Psychology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

I provide services focused on helping you get to the root of your difficulties and learn ways to become more self-aware, cope with difficult emotions, improve mood, feel connected to others, and live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
The heart and soul of my approach is to help clients develop self-awareness and self-acceptance. We work together to understand what the problems are and develop new strategies for tackling them.

My main therapy approach is using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. Cognitive Behavioral therapy is a counseling treatment proven to be helpful for improving mental health through scientific research. Therefore, this means that CBT is not based only on what people think can work, but what has been shown to work.

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. In my practice, I work collaboratively with individuals to help identify and solve problems that get in the way of achieving their goals in life. My goal in therapy is to empower people to live richer and more satisfying lives.

I believe that you are worthy and capable of living a life that you love. Let's begin the journey together!

***My main hours are Monday through Saturday. I generally schedule sessions at 11am, 12pm, 4pm, and 5pm and reserve morning appointments (Between 9am to 11am) for live chat sessions ONLY. Saturday session times tend to be more flexible for morning and afternoon times. I do not schedule sessions later than 5pm except every rare occasional need.***

Amy the best therapist I ever have and I had many therapist which half of them didn’t worked out (I had 7 therapists). With her, I felt like I’m talking to a friend who truly listens and gives very helpful suggestions and feedbacks big or small which have really helped since our first session. I feel better already and am so blessed to have her. She gives me hope and helped me go through all my emotional and mental struggles.
