About me

Hi. My name is Amy Jo Voirol and I'm a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Indiana.
I received my MA in 2007 and my LMHC licensure in 2011. I have worked with a variety of ages, issues, and situations. I have worked in outpatient and juvenile inpatient settings, as well as an adult male prison environment. Some of the areas I have experience working with include; those struggling with trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, abuse and neglect, relationship issues, family conflict, parenting difficulties, crisis management, low self-worth, and healing emotional wounds.

My counseling approach is compassionate, empathetic, non-judgmental, strength-based and I provide a safe space where I gently challenge when needed and initiate thought-provoking questions and ideas. The therapeutic relationship is essential in order to enable a feeling of safety and comfort and I strive to build and maintain the therapeutic alliance. I envision this relationship to be a dance, where timing and monitoring the pace is essential. I am a continual self-learner and encourage others to learn about themselves, in order to live a more fulfilling life. My understanding is the more a person is willing to learn about themselves the more likelihood of experiencing contentment in their life. I'm a developmentalist and believe a person's story begins at birth. We all have a threaded tale and I enjoy listening to another's story and helping them figure out more about who they are. I encourage, validate, educate, support, empower, and promote self-care. I remain open to feedback because it is important to know how a client is viewing their progress.

Sometimes in life, we need someone to listen to and validate us and at other times we need to address deeper emotional wounds. Therapy takes courage because it can be difficult and uncomfortable at times, but reaching out is the starting point of a healing journey. I would be honored to work with you in that process in whatever your therapy needs entail. I will work as hard as you do to assist you in working towards your worthy potential. I look forward to meeting you. Take care.
