Andrea Carter, LPC
About me
I am a licensed therapist in South Carolina with 4 years of professional work experience. I have experience working with children, adolescents, teens, college students, adults and families. I have experience in helping clients with depression, stress and anxiety, relationship issues, lgbtq+ related issues, anger management, & motivation, self esteem, and confidence.
My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and person-centered therapy. With cognitive-behavioral therapy, I strive to focus on modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts by interrogating and uprooting negative or irrational beliefs. With person-centered therapy, I believe in being a compassionate facilitator, listening without judgment and acknowledging the client’s experience without shifting the conversation in another direction. I am there to encourage and support the client without interrupting or interfering with their process of self-discovery, as they uncover what hurts and what is needed to repair it.
I have successfully helped people from all backgrounds to reach their goals for mental health and happiness. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
I would love to meet you and hear about your challenges and your hopes for a better future.
