About me

Welcome! If you are exploring Better Help, it’s likely that you’re struggling with something in your life. Research indicates that one of the most important factors for success in therapy is finding a therapist you can relate to and feel a connection with. I know that this can be a difficult process, and I want to provide you with some information about me in order to help you decide if my experience and counseling style are the right fit for you.

I hold licensure in two states. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Approved Supervisor in the state of Oklahoma and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I have worked in the mental health field since 2009, shortly after graduating with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. I completed my Master’s degree in Community Counseling in 2011 and have been providing counseling services to people struggling with a wide variety of challenges since. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families of all make-ups and backgrounds. Most of my experience has been working with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, family, LGBTQ+ issues, foster care and adoption, parenting, self-esteem and body image, and relationship issues.

My preferred method utilizes what’s called Cognitive Behavioral techniques, where we focus on how thoughts influence behaviors and how to make changes in order to work toward a more positive view of ourselves and our life. I also use Narrative therapy - I want to know your story, and how things like your history and life experiences influence patterns now. Additionally, I have some brief interventions that can help you to feel better immediately while we work on the long-term goals for your life. Whether you are looking for a change, struggling with an important aspect of your life or just wanting a person to validate and share your story with, I will provide a positive framework to help you meet your goals, while also giving honest feedback. Clients report that they find me to be compassionate and nonjudgmental. They appreciate that I am realistic, honest, and direct.

I focus on building a relationship that fosters collaboration, trust, and transparency.

I can interact with you in whatever manner you are most comfortable. I find it helpful to participate in video sessions so that we can get to know each other better. I am also available to you via phone and text. My availability is in the evenings and on the weekends but I check and respond to messages regularly during the weekdays.

Thank you for taking the first important step in getting better and I would love to work with you.

Andrea has been absolutely awesome! She’s very sympathetic and such a good listener when it comes to my issues. I’m so glad to have her as my therapist and I very much look forward to having more sessions with her.

Andrea is a very helpful and insightful individual who has shown a great compassion for my needs and concerns, and has also shown a great deal of expertise in dealing with both my issues as and adult and helping me understand my sisters issues as a teen in comprehensive and easy to understand ways.

She's super awesome and Im so glad I got paired with her. I enjoy the casual type conversation we have and I feel very comfortable telling her things and not feeling pressured. I also feel like I'm talking to a friend instead of a therapist and that makes it 100% easier all around! Thank you so much Andrea for the work you do, also you're super adorable.
