About Me

I am an adult, adolescent and family therapist with 20 years of experience. I am licensed in both North Dakota and Minnesota and have additional certification in Interactive Play Therapy which allows for creative interventions when it is difficult to find the words to express yourself.

I provide treatment for a variety of disorders and specialize in trauma therapy. My approach to treatment is providing personalized approaches including creative interventions to help individuals heal in a safe, warm, and collaborative environment. Many of my clients have uncertainty and confusion about how treatment will impact their futures. My goal is to help you navigate through those questions and help you find the best treatment approach for you and your needs.

I have experience with a variety of challenge areas including the effects of abuse sustained in childhood, victims of psychological, sexual & physical abuse, victims of domestic violence, victims of neglect, adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, self-harm behaviors, behavior management, attachment issues, personality disorders, and persons affected by divorce.

I provide several options for therapeutic techniques and interventions that assist you in moving through your treatment as smoothly as possible while finding ways to practice coping skills, communicate, and heal in a safe and calming environment. As online treatment has become more accessible over the last few years, I have developed and accessed many online tools and interventions that help bridge the gap between in person and online therapy.
My approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT & trauma focused), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), motivational interviewing, on-line sand tray and interactive play therapy techniques.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet and work with you as you look towards the next steps in your journey!

She's great and took the time to hear the back story for reference.

Andrea has been absolutely wonderful, nothing short of spectacular. She listens, is objective, and has my back. It has been helpful to work through current dilemmas that are a barrier for me to even function or work, and I look forward to continue working with her through childhood traumas. I appreciate how well she messages in the chat, and sends ‘homework’ for me to work on that I took part in assigning, like setting a goal to try to shower every other day for not only little bits of joy (I like water) and improving my hygiene when it is difficult to care about. Everyday it takes work to even get out of bed, but I believe between my medications and therapy, I will get there someday to a 0 (or at least super low) on my PHQ-9!
