About me

Hi, my name is Angie Carrera.

My background is in Counseling psychology and my highest level of education is a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology where I developed skills in individual counseling, family counseling, and couples counseling. Currently, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Board Approved Supervisor for LPC associates, and a Licensed Chemical dependency counselor. I have 10 years of experience and have 8 years licensed to practice counseling in the State of Texas.

My specialties are trauma and related disorders, ADHD and related conditions, and autism spectrum disorder (for level 1 using CBT). I have worked in a variety of settings such as in shelter and foster care, in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, in community health centers, and in crisis centers like one of Texas' Children's advocacy centers. I am certified in specific treatments to help my clients with their problems such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing therapy as well as Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children. While there are many types of trauma treatments for adults, CPT has been extremely helpful for my clients and many have discovered that recovery is possible from PTSD and related conditions such as depression. I have similarly worked with clients with ADHD that present with comorbid conditions such as depression and anxiety that have benefited significantly from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I look forward to working with you or in collaboration with your family member/s and helping you find the recovery that is right for you. Select me as your counselor if you are ready to start a meaningful change toward a stronger, happier you.

For a long time I have suffered from anxiety that because of that I almost ended my life, that is the main reason I decided to seek help, I was very afraid to talk to someone who I did not know, but Angie Carrera changed my life by teaching me different techniques to reassure me, he shows me exactly what fear causes me, things that not even I myself know. She continues to teach me to know more about my ptsd adhd many times I look forward to the time of therapy it makes me feel much better it has become a friend. It is definitely a blessing in my life.

Angie has been patient with me and she’s showed me hidden things about myself that I wasn’t aware of. Counseling is a slow and subtle process but it’s giving me an outlet to help reset myself in order to get better
