Annisha Dunaway, LCSW
About me
Philosophy of Care,
Hello, I am Annisha Dunaway, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in, Delaware, North Carolina, and Virginia who has experience partnering with adults and teens seeking help with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, PTSD, and empowerment. I am an Army veteran and work as a victim specialist with law enforcement.
I believe healing through therapy is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest caring without judgment. Goals are developed following the client's lead and what you want to accomplish. Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals and issues, I draw from various methods to create a tailored approach for each individual and situation. I consider myself warm, open, encouraging, and direct as a therapist.
I try to create a space to process without judgment safely and nurture the courage to be imperfect. I believe that challenges and changes allow individuals to examine their lives and draw from their inner strength the ability to redirect their life’s path. Obstacles are only opportunities for your future.
I hope to speak with you soon.

Annisha has been a wonderful listening ear and will often become a mirror to hold me accountable for how I know I feel but am refusing to acknowledge. I appreciate her empathy and her ability to listen without judgment.

I don’t write reviews often, but I needed to write this one. Annisha (Nisha) has been a game changer for me. I came to therapy knowing I was standing at the edge of some major changes, professionally and personally, and I knew I needed someone who could hold space for that. Nisha was exactly that person.
I’ve tried platforms like BetterUp before, and while they can be hit or miss, the universe really showed up for me this time. From our first session, Nisha made me feel heard in a way I didn’t realize I was craving. She listens deeply. She nudges when I need it. She doesn’t rush the process but also doesn’t let me hide.
She creates room for me to be small when I need to be —and in doing that, helps me step forward in bigger, more honest ways. She’s not just a skilled therapist. She’s a good human. A good soul who genuinely believes in people and helps you believe in yourself again, too. If you’re looking for someone who combines skill, intuition, and real heart... Nisha is it.

With only 3-4 sessions, Annisha has helped me better handle my stress and anxiety. After every session, I walk away feeling accomplished, and I am given manageable tasks to complete prior to the next session. I immediately felt settled with Annisha.
