I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a PhD in Human Services with a specialization in counseling. I work with individuals and couples. Historically, most of my clientele have been adults, followed by adolescents, and then older children. I currently work with adults only.
Most of my therapeutic services involve adult relationship issues. These include adjusting to major life events and various forms of loss including health, divorce, empty nest issues, and intimacy problems. People commonly experience symptoms consistent with depression and anxiety during these life events. Other conditions I work with include attention deficit disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, post traumatic stress disorder, work related stress problems, adjustment issues, and faith or spiritual issues.
Like most mental health clinicians, I have a rather eclectic approach to counseling in that I borrow from several theories of human behavior and development. However, I gravitate to the existential/transpersonal model in that I'm interested in what the person is experiencing today while considering the concept that people are spiritual beings embodied. I incorporate the cognitive behavioral model and, at times, utilize a more psychoanalytic model exploring the person's childhood experiences within a developmental context.
My personal counseling philosophy consists of three fundamental pillars:
1. Human beings are spiritual beings embodied (Existential/Transpersonal Theory).
2. People served and I are more alike than different. Things important to me as a person tend to be important to all people in general.
3. The people I serve have the answers they seek before treatment begins. The therapeutic process serves to illuminates paths/options and the answers become more clearly visible.
I schedule 8 sessions per day, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. This schedule enables me to provide 40 sessions per week, each session lasting 45 minutes.

He is wonderful
Dr. Montez is a great therapist but more importantly a great person. He is great listener and gives even better insight to help navigate my life choices. I always leave his sessions with clarity.
He is totally awesome! I learned so much from him.
Dr Montez is very skilled, listens, and relates key points or messages through stories. I think this is a good method for me because I can see the same problem with myself removed.
Dr. Montez is an amazing therapist! He makes me comfortable, and it feels like we're just chatting. In reality, we are getting so much done without me realizing it until later. It's the best way to be a 'patient' for me! I am always confident in his expertise and wise words. He surely knows what he's doing and has already changed my life in many ways. Coming from someone who has always felt like they needed to be 'fixed' when attending therapy... Dr. Montez makes you feel confident and helps you believe in yourself again! I feel capable and ready to take on the world again!!! I am truly grateful.
Dr. Montez is phenomenal. He helped me through the most difficult time in my life. He is calming, reassuring, and I always left our sessions feeling better about myself and my future.
Dr. Montez was a great listener and helped me to sort through some things that were recent issues.
I absolutely adore Dr. Montez. I am gaining the insight I need into who I am, and how to shift my perspective of thinking to build the life I want (AND DESERVE). Thank you!
He's super sweet and funny. Knows when to made light and to sit in solemn. Smiles a lot and makes me feel...normal.
This was my 1st time ever speaking to a counselor. Dr Montez made it a very good experience. He has been very open honest and easy to talk to I couldn't have asked for a better person to start my counseling journey with.
Dr Montez is awesome. I feel like I’m talking to a wise friend. He has helped me substantially in the short time I’ve spoke to him thus far.

I appreciate the availability and expertise of Dr. Montez. We had just a few interactions but I felt relly understood and supported. Very appreciated.
Dr. Montez is very perceptive to what's laying just below the surface. There are many times where I don't quite understand a feeling or why I'm feeling that way, and he explains things in a way where I can understand it. He's very kind, has a soft voice, and I definitely recommend him.
Dr. Montez is great. He is engaging, funny, and highly knowledgeable in his field. His style is conversational and he tells stories to get across his points. He’s not going to give you homework each week but he will leave you with things to think about and help you reframe your way of thinking.
Dr. Montez really helped me uncover what the source of my issues were, as well as deal with the depression I was experiencing. Thanks so much!
I am glad I am taking the step forward to self improvement.
