About me

I am a lifelong student of the healing arts. Currently a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have eight years of experience helping youth and adults recovering from addictions, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions in both individuals and families.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I studied Scientific Inquiry and completed my bachelors thesis in neuroscience, studying signals in the brain that affect eating and other behaviors. I worked in the natural health industry as a Research Scientist and educator. As part of this experience, I have studied cultural diversity and the use of holistic health approaches for over 30 years. I
believe each individual has the ability to affect positive change in their own well-being with the right support,
environment and evidence-based interventions.

My motto is “Kindness Matters”. I have found client-centered “talk” therapy to be effective in building a therapeutic relationship of trust that fosters self exploration, confidence and motivation. My role is not to give advice or judgment, but to help you make choices based on your own knowledge and values. For some, this may involve therapies such as Cognitive or Dialectical Behavioral Therapies (CBT/DBT) Narrative Therapy, or Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, among others. I use assessment interviews periodically to identify your strengths and learn about your ongoing needs to make sure we are meeting your goals.

Ethics are paramount in my practice. Education, advocacy and resources are essential to counseling and I am an active member of The Texas Counseling Association. If I don’t have an answer, I will find it.

Previous patients have called me “warm, caring, funny, relatable, helpful, professional, and thoughtful”. I hope you will find the same!
