Choosing a counselor is an extremely important decision, trust and a good rapport is essential to success in the therapeutic relationship. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker my work is rooted in a client-centered approach and led by the desires of those whom I am working with. You can expect a a warm and respectful approach, professionalism, and affirmation of your values and desires. My overall approach to counseling is holistic and I am well versed in approaches which include cognitive-behavioral, Person Centered and mindfulness therapy.
I have happily worked in the mental/ behavioral health field for over 10 years in a variety of settings to include private practice, outpatient mental health clinics, and non profit organizations. I have developed the skill set and expertise in working with individuals ranging in age, diverse backgrounds and clinical needs such as depression, parent/child conflict, abuse/ neglect, relationship conflict, life adjustments and coaching. I also have specialized training in anxiety where I am a Certified Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP).
I think it is important to have a safe space to communicate your needs, fears, desires for the future and using those things to foster change in a positive way. Honestly I've only had 3 sessions with AJ so far and I already feel like I've accomplished so much and gotten so much out of just 3 sessions. I'm SO excited to continue my work with her and I never thought I would say that about therapy! She's amazing!!!
I feel like AJ really understands what I need to work on, even better than I understand myself. I feel heard and like she has lots more expert guidance to give.
Within our 5 months together, AJ has been nothing but incredibly thoughtful, accommodating and diligent. She truly made me feel like our chats were a safe space for me to speak completely free of judgement. AJ challenged me to improve in ways that were comfortable and doable for me, and helped me to guide myself through the process rather than tell me what to do. During our sessions, she was a great listening ear and was always more than willing to answer my questions with a holistic flavour and grounding insights. She gently made sure I stayed on track with my progress, and was very flexible with scheduling if you’re international like myself. Can’t recommend enough.

AJ has been incredibly kind and supportive throughout my last 8 months with her. She is really great at asking insightful questions in order to get you to really reflect on an understand your emotions and the underlying thought pattern tied to them. Our sessions were very self guided which allowed me to talk about what I needed, and she was good at listening to what I had to say and then guiding me towards deeper insight. Working with her has allowed me to work through a lot of past trauma and gain more closure on parts of my life I couldn't change. I've also gained some better coping mechanisms for dealing with anxiety and depression thanks to the helpful worksheet, book recommendations, and discussions we've had. Thank you AJ!!

Best part of working with AJ is that she'll understand you the way you truly are - your authentic self. She would not try to mould you or alter you into someone else. She'll guide you on the path you have chosen for yourself. AJs words really helped me a lot during some of my worst days. Her efforts have helped me in healing myself to a great extent.

AJ is very attentive to what you have to say and helped me come up with techniques that would help me deal with anxiety. This was my first time seriously speaking with a counselor and for years I wasn’t sure if I needed to talk to someone and put it off. However, I decided to try talking with a counselor through better help and I found out it was truly something that has made a difference in the way I think and the way I approach certain situations. AJ worked with me to come up with tools that I can utilize and go to when feeling anxious. When you finish working with her, you will still be able to practice using those tools she gave you.
