About me

I began working in the field at a VA Hospital Indiana psychiatric unit at the age of 18. My official first mental health job was at a psychiatric inpatient unit in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1977 when I was 22. From there I was hired at the local mental health center and worked the next 40 years. I was the manager of Inpatient services for 5 years, and then managed a rural satellite office in Indiana I began my private practice in the early 2000's with a psychiatrist until 2018 when the psychiatrist closed the practice. I retired in from my job of 40 years the same year but have continued to do private practice under my own Limited Liability Company. I have conducted Critical Incident Stress Debriefing with police officers and other first-responders , teachers, fellow therapists, and other groups. My specialties include, trauma counseling, grief work, family and couples work, anxiety disorders and depression. Since the pandemic began I have done Telehealth services from my home and in the private practice office.
I enjoy being a therapist because I feel it was the path I was meant to follow.
I work with adults only in Better Help. I enjoy providing Therapy on Better Help because it gave me the opportunity to continue my work as a therapist. I hope I can continue my career for many years to come.

In the very first session I had with Art, I knew I was going to enjoy having him on my side. He’s been wonderful helping me work through the issues I came to BetterHelp for. I would highly recommend him!

When I started better help I really need to have some hope and regain my balance etc, everything felt chaotic and I couldn’t see how can I get myself get better.

Art is so easy to speak to and also very experienced and knowledgeable.
He is also very empathetic and understanding.
Right away I felt hopeful and that is what I needed the most at the time.
And more I see him and contemplate and try new skills I learn that also make me feel more positive and empowering.
I am so grateful
